Nightlife in Torrevieja and the festival of San Juan

Hiya, myself and a group of friends are going on holiday this week to Villamartin, and we're considering coming down to Torrevieja for a couple of nights out. We're all first year students and are looking for a good night, probably at a good club if possible . Where would you guys reccomend going?

Also, i've read a little about the San Juan bonfires and am wondering, is it worth our coming down on the 23rd for a night out during the festival? What kind of things happen? Do people still go out and party or is it more of a religious festival? Should we come for the day or just for the night? Etc.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I think that the biggest and most popular one would be Pacha. Open until morning. free entrance before 2 am but usually doesnt gets busy until 3.
There is a very good Irish bar close to Pacha called Genius. good music and great atmosphere.
Try also the area around the marina. loads of bars and "discopubs"
I would avoid any of the bars/clubs in the habaneras ara.¨

I think the San Juan is a much bigger deal in Alicante than in Torrevieja.......

Hogueras in Alicante

We went last year and you really need to go early and enjoy the whole day there. The streets are closed to traffic and there are bars and restaurants set up in the streets. It does get busy and the fireworks and bonfires don't start until late. Do some research on the internet to find out more.
Be careful as my wife was burned on her bare shoulders by embers falling from the bonfires and the firemen have a customary duty to spray the watching crowds once they have put the fires out so you might get wet too!

Yes, it is a good idea to leave your Armani suit and Cristian Dior dress at home.
Shorts and a t-shirt is a much better idea. Still great fun though.

What nights is it open and is it free every night brfore 2 am for blokes as well as girls?

July and August it's open every night. Just google Pacha Torrevieja and it tells you all you want to know.

Has anyone got any info on todays fiesta, like were and when are the bonfires and fireworks starting ( 1st time for San Juan Festival )

Monday the 23rd of June, at 11.00 p.m, the Water Fireworks Castle will be shot from the artificial pools of the Paseo Juan Aparicio, which will last nearly 20 minutes.

The cremá (burnt) of the 2 hogueras will start on Tuesday the 24th of June at 12.00 a.m.; the first hoguera to be burnt will be La punta, and the Calvario one will be the last one.
