  • Baggage Allowance - Jet2.com

We are booked from Newcastle to Murcia for next Wednesday.
Checking the hold baggage allowances has left me confused. It indicates
each passenger is allowed 17Kg without surcharge . The two of us want to
take only one hold suitcase .
They indicate that no individual case can exceed 25Kg. They also say that changes to the number of items of hold luggage must be paid for.
Our question which isnt clearly answered for me is :-
If we take 1 case only but exceeding 17Kg probably 24Kg would we have to pay a surcharge for taking one bag instead of 2 ?
    OR
To avoid paying extra is the only alternative to take 2 cases of less than 17Kg ?
Can anyone with experience of this situation advise ?
    Thanks Dave

It is as it states, 17kg per person, if you take 1 suitcase between the two of you and it weighs 24 kg, you will have to pay excess on the extra 7 kilos. You cannot combine the allowance of 17kgs per person and put it all into one suitcase. Your best bet would be to take 2 suitcases and make sure both of you have an outfit in each case, always handy incase one case goes missing.

where do you get your information ?

the allowance is per person 17 kg

you pay for cases and the maximum weight is 25kg per case there is no excess to pay for two people sharing a case.

I have done this many times with jet2 and easyjet.

I did get charged for excess when myself and my partner shared 1 suitcase, it was not over 25kgs. Maybe it has changed. Sorry if it was wrong information.

            hi there
I flew back from murcia on thurs night to manchester the limit for the case is 17kg if you exceed that you will be charged, hand baggage is 10kg and also we were reminded that there was only one piece of hand luggage in cabin so if you buy duty frees at airport make sure that they fit in your hand luggage, also when you booked your flight you had the choice of booking a hold case or hand luggage only it should say on your print off what you booked and if you booked a case each then its definetly 17kg allowed(is from manchester)
            hope this helps

                baggage weight

Some thing to do with the working directive and lifting of weights safely.

The weight restriction is there for a reason some poor bugger has to lift it at the airport, come on folks think about it would you want to lift a honking great case just because some thoughtless person packed it to the brim with clothes they will probably bring back clean, lets face it we have all done it at some time

Hi for each person it is as quoted from the Jet2.com

With effect from 31st March 2009 each travelling customer (excluding infants) has an allowance of 22kgs (providing they have paid the relevant per bag charge)

Simple as that ?? All explained in their baggage policy

                  hope it helps
