Words are great, actions even better, my view is that if you wait to have the place cleaned...............how long have you waited now??? you will wait forever. I retired from a senior position in the UK waste management industry recently and would be only to happy to come along to one of your meetings and offer my view. Not sure my view is what you, or your group would want to hear. When I mentioned investment I was not only referring to the financial aspect but the environmental impact on your area if your group actually started to clean the area. rather than talk so much about it.

We are always interested to learn something new from someone purporting have a greater knowledge on a subject as important as proper management of waste and ultimately the protection of the environment.

As this subject is so wide ranging it would not be fair to try to fit it in one of our fortnightly surgeries, so I would suggest consideration of a separate meeting to discuss this subject.

May I suggest that if you would care to write a précis of your thesis for the action necessary to solve the problem of the lack of correct management of waste within the Orihuela Municipality by the ruling PP Council; including the lack of proper and adequate recycling facilities in order to eliminate Landfill sites, such as that proposed at Torremendo, the reduction of general litter throughout the area, the prevention and elimination of fly-tipping, the illegal use of public land for refuse tips, and the many other facets of inadequate waste management by the council within the Orihuela Municipality; we could consider it with a view to possibly having a meeting and using it as an agenda for such a meeting. As we only know you by a pseudonym it would of course be necessary to give your full details for contact purposes. You could send the précis to either of the email addresses on the Blogs. This would seem to be the best option at this time.

Firstly let me apologise for my delay in replying to your postings of yesterday until pm today, but it’s strange that you should suggest that I should be out collecting litter and tidying up the area as that is precisely what I was doing for part of the morning, including picking up litter left by the Council staff who empty the green household rubbish skips.

By the way if you would care to check the timings of the 2 reply postings I made today, including the one to you, they were made in the siesta hours, the hottest part of the day. Surely you’re not suggesting I should be out in the full sun at that time of the day collecting litter, that would be irresponsible of me.

I don't think that anyone disagrees that the council should do it's job or that groups should put pressure on them to do it and totally agree that there is much cleaning up to do in some areas on the costas. I just thought that while we wait for things to change, we could start to instigate them in other ways. Lead by example etc...
Call me misguided but I like to think that what we give out will come back to us

Do you have a manifesto? aims? did you have any candidates for the last elections?

I have not the slightest interest in getting involved in the politics of the area but waste management issues, whether that be systems of cleansing, recycling policies and systems, public education are an area I have been involved in all my adult life.

I am not interested in getting involved in whinging groups or groups that try to change an area simply to refect the uk.

Groups that try to change things for the benefit of all within the existing political structure and that are willing to get their hands dirty gets my full support and if that means helping with the more technical aspects of waste management, then I am willing to help.

You have obviously not carried out any research on Los Verdes de Orihuela before making any of your comments about us, and do not appear to have even bothered to fully read the Blogs I suggested to you or you would not have needed to ask.

A simple search of ‘Los Verdes de Orihuela’ on Google or other search engines would have revealed all you want to know. You might like to take time to look at Los Verdes de Orihuela .

Nevertheless let me clarify for you that Los Verdes de Orihuela, is part of Los Verdes del Pais Valencia, which is part of Los Verdes España, which is a member of the European Greens. At the last local election on the 27th May 2007 the party obtained 9.02% of the total votes in the Orihuela Municipality, resulting in the election of three Councillors, an increase from the one in the 2003 election. Los Verdes de Orihuela is the third largest represented party on the Orihuela Town Council.

You obviously have no, or very little, knowledge of local politics in Orihuela and the part Los Verdes contribute within the established political structure; yet you feel qualified and/or justified in judging and telling us what we should be doing in respect of the substantial litter problem in this municipality.

Having thought more about it, you were possibly right when you wrote "Not sure my view is what you, or your group would want to hear" but we will wait and see if we get a précis from you, but I understand it if we do not.

Thank you for the reply, even your condecending comments, I stated I wasn't the slightest bit interested in the politics of the area or the political groups that are claiming to have the best interest of the residents at heart and that remains the same. You have not managed to change my view of your organisation in the slightest even after reading your mmmmmm blogs. I have worked a lifetime in the political structure of local government here in the UK. I am on a personal basis rather tired of so called representives of the people using local issues to persue their own political objectives.

I will watch your progress with interest.
