  • Moving to Spain advise needed

    Hi,
This is my first time on this forum and have found alot of the information very helpful.
I will be moving with my family to Spain (Daya Nueva) at the end of May and was wondering if anyone still had some sort of project plan that they could send me on what to do before you go and things needed to be done when you arrive. I have sorted out the schools for my daughters and the house purchase was completed last year so we have installed the alam and fitted grills already.

Also has anyone got an aprox. cost of living so I can work out some sort of budget.
Would be greatful for any help.

    Hi Marianne
We are not resident in Spain so cant help you on that one Im affraid. At least you seem to have done 2 very important things already. How about the language? I am sure if you are looking for work it would be preferable to speak Spanish (may come in handy to understand what your kids are saying once they go to school). Good luck anyway, hope you settle in well.

Post subject: Moving to Spain advise needed

Thanks for the reply jacpops, I have just completed a beginners course which is a start and I am now teaching my 5 year old, she is very quick which puts my mind at rest and my 13 year old has Spanish lessons at school, which leaves my husband...he said he will start when we get there.

I am a bit nervous that I will forget to do something that is quite important, mostly to do with government things over here like pensions etc. From reading this forum it sound like it would be better to sell our car before we go, it would be great to part exchange it for a LHD Zafira does anyone know a place that sell LHD in the north London area. We have a cat so I need to find out what I need to do to bring him over, there is a lot to do and so muh to remember so I am going to start a project plan and when complete I will post it for others to use, so if anyone can contribute it would make it so much easier.
      Thanks so much again.

        Hi Marianne,

"Heard the British Ambassador from Alicante on the radio today giving out loads of statistics etc. However he gave out the following web site http://www.ukinspain.com/english/siteMap/
It gives definitive up to date information on residencia, nie, passports, cars, pets etc etc etc. in fact answers to many of the questions that get asked on here and other forums.
The FAQ's section is particularly interesting."

Project managing your move is a great idea and I'm sure will be well read if you post a diary. Just don't exect things in Spain to move with the same efficiency! Good luck with the move.

Sue, I have found the page, there was one for things to do before you leave and one for things to do once you arrive in Spain.

                    Thanks so much
