  • the law is quite clear

rebroadcasting is illegal. And a certain mr Murdoch is fed up with people making a fortune on his back.

little to do with Spain - more with UK cowboys trying to rip off their fellow countrymen since 'in spain you can do whatever you like'.

    best solutions:
    * canal digital plus (not all the channels)
    * follow spanish tv
    * big satellite dish, and have your UK cards sent to you

Again, it is NOT the Spanish who are at fault. I am very sure that the muslim extremists in the UK also are bothered by not being able to receive some TV channels
When in Rome, do like the Romans

I fully sympathize with the people who have parted with -often a load of - money to get what they wanted. However, I can only recommend going to the Guardia Civil or Policía Nacional and make an official complaint. And that is from my own legal (spanish) background. But please don t blame Spain ....

Is it not irresponsible of the freebie and local papers to insert advertisments from "so Called" legit T.V companies etc? Shoud they not show a little bit of thought to there readers. Are they just as responsible -if the reader did not see the advert they may not have bought?

They can research into the company prior to the advert being inserted. Ok they just want the money!! as do the TV suppliers.

      So where does one go?

Looks like this company (although reps selling the "legal" packages in this Sunday's market) is just about gone. Either clients are down to only BBC or message going accross the screen saying they will soon be cut off and must contact the suppliers to request a refund and not to accept excuses. My one clients paid 500 euros for just 4 channels BBC1, ITV, 1 sport and 1 film channel!! Looks like the writing is on the wall for all these re-broadcasters.

Hi Bubbles - interestingly a previous poster on this forum - Mick94 - was howled down and 'shreiked' at (if that is possible on a forum) for saying this very same thing. I always agreed with him though and am disgusted to see the papers advertising companies that cannot supply what they say they can.

Bravo ! My neighbours have denounced Telmicro and are making some sort of insurance claim. They are coming with me to the GC station and I am doing the same. Telmicro have taken our money under false pretenses and we all need to denounce them. Excellent advice Mepossem !

I post regarding these re broadcasters:

SKY TV IN SPAIN | SATELLITE TV SPAIN | FREE VIEW AND SKY HD | ALICANTE | TORREVIEJA | MURCIA

I could never afford the nearly 1000 euros you charge having already lost out twice to TV companies here, the latest being Telmicro.

I have just been chatting to my neighbours across the verandah and they are not on the internet. They have asked me to pose to you the following questions, they having been in touch with the Consulate in Alicante as well as the local press having just recently parted with their Telmicro fee. Excuse the suspicion. Its just the way it is right now. They have denounced Telmicro at the Guardia Civil station for their lost fee.

              1. All the local press have said that re broadcasting Sky is illegal and that even Sky, the BBC and ITV are not legally available in Spain. How can you offer it ?

              2. What is the registered address of your company's head office ?

              3. What is your CIF (?) number and when was your company registered ?

              4. How many customers do you have ?

              5. Would you object to them making enquiries about your company with the appropriate authorities including Sky, BBC and ITV direct ?

I think these are very reasonable requests which any respectable company, including doubtless yours, would be glad to answer.

As I say, I could never afford your fees but they could although having been conned once, won't be again. They are older and doubtless wiser than I am although I am catching up fast - as the new saying goes "When in Spain ..........trust no one !"
              No response yet ?

              • Just spoke to my mother over there and she is thinking of getting the legit Sky, but the cost may run very high with the install and large dish and monthly subs over here, but then again its legal and this wont happen again.

Saying that she also has some dodgy English cowboy coming round tomorrow as he says he can decode the box and signal!!! we see what happens.

Legit Sky in Spain...monthly subs...if I may suggest you (or your mother) read the previous (and very numerous) posts upon this subject!

Yes you can get it...but legit it is not! However, if your mother gets a big dish and a ´Freesat´box then that is about as legit as she will get here at the moment...unless she simply gets Spanish TV...

To be honest mepossem, the British people are sick of Murdoch making a fortune of their backs more, he is very much despised in the UK and it seems he didn't care either way.

I think many people say that if it had been Spanish TV then nothing would have been done, but because its Brits they close it down on the say so of Canal+, I am not saying what I think just what I have heard.

                      • Hi Duderoo,
As Mikea states, an install of an advertised "solution" to your UK TV viewing needs on the costa in newpapers, local mags and word of mouth always end in tears with expense with no recompense. I hope your mother does not have the UK Freeview crew turning up. You should advise her that people have been trying many different "organisations" for UK TV and have always ended up with nothing at all. I am out of pocket by 600 Euro to date and have accepted that a "quick fix" solution to UK TV channels is not an option. I have probably looked and enquired with every "UK TV channel provider" ( I use this term very loosely ) and using this forum in conjunction with my enquiries now know that unless you subscribe to Canal+ or a number of other broadcasters ( or should I say rebroadcasters ! ) which are legitimately based Spanish providers you will not get an uninterrupted UK TV channel list.
I have been looking at Telefonica's channel list and they provide most of what I want, please check back a number of pages, I used her posting with links to check this option and you pay the correct rate for each channel you desire in the package and I am more than happy to do this knowing my viewing is safe with a legitimate broadcaster.
I also looked at SKY in Spain and found www.digitialfuture.es who CLAIM to be authorised SKY providers. I am still at the enquiry stage with them and please please please anyone reading this, I know nothing about this company, have had no experience with them and do not know if they have "Telmicro" style history, so I DO NO recommend them in anyway, however its worth a look. Other than that I am going with Telefonica.
I hope your mother will not be another victim in the explotation of the "Telmicro" fiasco.

                        • Duderoo, apologies the web address quoted was incorrect it should be Digital Future - Based in Marbella, Spain - Built On Reputation., however, I believe they can only broadcast to Andalucia, however I believe you can obtain "real" SKY cards from them. They are based in Marbella. Of course, that means obtaining the dish and a SKY card compatible satellite receiver box yourself, I suspect, but not sure if they could provide them?.

Fair question. I believe they are business partners authorised to distribute SKY cards giving access to legitimate SKY broadcasting, authorised by SKY themselves to do so. All fee's paid one would hope but don't quote me on this one.

                                Well They dont exist.

Sky have no rights to transmit in Spain. So they cant have any "legal" providers here.

If you get a big dish and a sky card from the UK. YOU are NOT breaking the law, you are merely infringing the user terms of SKY meaning that they will cut you off.

However there is no way they can tell where you are unless you tell them.

Thats about as legal as it gets.

This doesnt mean that it is legal to SELL sky cards in Spain. I dont know. But personally I doubt it.
