New 'driveway egress' tax Torrevieja

I am in the process of writing a short piece about what has been happening on some of the urbs. about Torrevieja. In short, it appears that if you have a dipped pavement outside your property and a driveway gate allowing you access to and from a public highway, there is now a new (or newly enforced tax measure) in place.

There is a requirement to have a 'vado permanente' sign costing 42 euros p.a. outside your drive. Those that have declined to co operate following the approach made to them by Torrevieja municpal authorities have their driveway gate bricked up and are billed for it. If they fail to pay, the bill is attached to their IBI property tax and we all know what happens when that is not paid ! I assume that the town hall are slowly working their way around the area.

Further, officials are now on the look out for work that has been carried out where no 'licencia obras menor' has been granted. (small works licence).
Whether one is needed for those awful uPVC and glass creations on some properties, I know not.

A near neighbour of mine who I have never met, just had his house auctioned off for non payment of IBI, SUMA and Community Fees. He was warned but chose to ignore everything that was sent him at his address in the Netherlands, silly man.
