  • Registering for school in September

Hi I hope there is someone who can help me,

My husband and I are moving over to Playa Flamenca in July with our son who will be seven by then.

I want to register him for school as soon as possible. I am trying to find out what dates you can register your children in May or if I can come over now and register for the term starting in September. Can anyone help me.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

    Amanda,

I am registering my daughter for the Daya Nueva village school at the begining of April for entrance in September, if you call the school that your son will be going to they will give you a date.

            Hello Amanda,

I remember trying to find out for someone last year and I was told the dates would not be announced until March/April time. I'll try and find out for you from the town hall, or better still, maybe Beastess could ask at the school (?)

                Hi all

Called the school this morning (thanks for the number) and they advised me that they are still waiting on registration dates from the government.

                Thanks for all your advice.

                      Hi,

Thanks very much for all the advice that you are giving me.

I will try calling the school again this week to see if they have finalised a date.

I just keep reminding myself that I must adopt the Spanish attitude and not expect everything to happen yesterday!!

Again thanks for all your help keep me updated if there is any news on the registration dates.

                      Amanda

Therte is a brand new one next to the primary school in Playa Flamenca. There is also one in San Miguel. I suspect one or other will be nearest to you depending which part of Villamartin you live in.

                            Hello Iola,

If you go to my website which is advertised on the right side of this page, and go to the section "Articles about living in Spain" there are two articles there which should interest you. One is called "Education in Spain" and the other is "Secondary Schooling in Torrevieja".

These two articles will forewarn you about some of the challenges you will be facing by placing a 13 year old into a Spanish school.

Thankyou both for your replies. Jane, I have already visited your site and I have concerns about placing my daughter in a Spanish school and have spoken to her at length about the difficulties she may face. However, it is her who is insisting on going to a Spanish school, she wants to fully immerse herself in spanish life. As we are making such a big life change I thought I would honour her feelings and place her in a Spanish school for the first year and evaluate after that. She is quite bright and outgoing, I know a year out will set her back if she does end up going into international school, but I think she could pull it back. what do you think, am I being foolish? Should I insist on International school or let her give it a go?
