Orihuela to Valencia?

I'll be staying in the Villamartin area and wish to travel to Valencia. I know there is at train station in Orihuela. How far is this from Villamartin and where would I find timetables etc. We want to get to Valencia the most inexpensive way possible (we're students) and was wondering did anyone have any tip for doing so?

Take the bus from Valencia to Alicante, change for the bus to Cartagena, get off at Campo Amor (ask the driver) and take a taxi from there.

Alternative take the train from Valencia to Orihuela and a taxi from there. The train costs more than the bus, and is less frequent.

Cheapest: Rent a car!

About the train...

I don not recommend the train unless you are going to the CITY of Orihuela. It may provide a better and more comfortable and faster link between Valencia and Alicante, but if you are going to Orihuela Costa, you save considerable time and money by taking the bus from Alicante.

I think you've read my post wrong. We're going to Valenica from Villamartin and not the other way around. Your directions are still perfect as I've just reversed what you've given. I've been on the RENFE site and Orihuela won't show as a starting train destination. You think maybe the bus from Copo amar to Alicante and from there the train might be an efficient way?

It would work, yes. And I did get your direction wrong

You can take the train from Orihuela, but need to leave the from field 'blank' on the first 'click'. A taxi from Villamartin to O costs about 40 Euro, and the train from O to A takes an hour and continues the 'detour' towards Valencia. Alicante - Valencia with the Euromed only takes an hour, but 2 with Talgo.

Euromed alicante-Valencia about 30 € (give or take a few)
Cheapast way possible is by bus. Possibly from Torrevieja.
Alicante - Valencia bus takes about 4-5 hours if not express.

10-15 euros from Villamartin to Campo-Amor. Probably 15-20 to Torrevieja where you have ALOT more buses to Alicante.
