All this gobbledegook straight from the horses arse might amuse those with constricted brains but most of us have better things to do.
Stop trading insults and stick to the thread..................!!

I spoke to them today and these are the facts from what I can tell
            1) They're in the middle of legal proceedings and therefore don't have any equipment to broadcast at the mo
            2) Can legally broadcast in Spain and therefore will be receiving equipment back once the courts have finished with it and will be broadcassting again.
            3) Certain channels not coming back, but the BBCs etc deffo coming back (can anyone update me on the Eastenders plot pleeeeeease!) and the Fox etc that they had contracted coming back too.
            4) No firm date for service to come back cos it's depending on when they get their stuff back - but hoping for mid sept.

Hope this helps. If you wanna check this I called the normal number 902877303 and they answered all questions.

            • UPDATED STATEMENT FROM TELMICRO (20/8/0

              >>>>>> 5. We would also like to reassure that obviously no customers will be charged and no bills will be sent during this time and until further notice. <<<<<<<

So, we are owed a free month from May, which I TRUST will be added onto the annual one which is due to start January (though we will be arranging to pay by DD in future, we were told we had to cough up for the following year when we had Telmicro come December).AND now, because of all this we EXPECT to not pay till likely .... April maybe, depends how long it is off the air.

With luck, IF they ever start transmitting again, they'll have learnt from their totally stupid experience & we shall feel safer from losing the TV again, BUT with Telmicro, who knows ??

              • Just wondering...

I'd just like to know why, if it was just because of the channels they had, other companies weren't shut down too???... I reckon there's something else to it, as if it was just a tax thing, they'd have stayed open but gotten a hefty fine.

Well what do we do for tv if we are not living in Spain but just visiting on a regular basis. We have been paying dd every month but only in residence for a month or so every other month. In effect we have been paying double for the privilege. I am very reluctant to pay for another installation and have the plug pulled yet again. And for the silly twit who suggested we should go out and look at the Spanish countryside instead of watching tv - do they have floodlights throughout the dark winter nights? Whoever he/she is they want to get real. My wife and I only watch tv after 8 p.m. at night after eating out and adding to the Spanish economy. We catch up with the news etc and watch films and footie when they are on.

Unfortunately, if you don't want to watch Spanish tv, you will have to lump it and watch old videos that you have recorded over the years and never got around to watching, read those books you've promised yourself to read and play games. I keep telling my otherhalf DIY's a good option, but selective hearing comes into play. I really enjoy my tv but the funny thing is, I haven't missed it that much, I can't believe how I've adapted with "Life without TV". We have all got to sit back and see what happens in the next month of so, how ever annoying it is. URGHHHHHHH.

                      • Our DVD recorder here in the UK has never been so busy with my OH recording so much. At least in Spain there's more than TV but if it had happened in the UK with our weather we'd have really felt it.

It's amazing how some have been so desperate to pay anything just to get English channels put on by anyone, just someone !

I'm certainly not saying I wouldn't miss it if I was currently in Spain but it's hardly the end of the world. We feel the same as all about losing our hard earned money but I'm more annoyed about that than the prospect of us not having English channels when we fly out next week for a month.

The art of chatting will be all the rage.

At least the weather should still be nice for you, probably nicer than now, not so humid, so you will be able to sit outside with your G+T or whatever and just relax and enjoy. Have a nice holiday

                          • Aww, thanks Chris, my tipple's a cold lager or room temperature red wine. We never go in July/August as the intense heat was making me feel very faint when we left July 2nd, later than we intended. September's heat is plenty fierce enough for us. I like to think we currently have the best of two worlds, but with all the taxes & bills that go with it unfortunately. They certainly mount up now we are retired.

We're gonna get moaned at talking about the weather and not Telmicro, oops, (sorry everybody) but yes, you have the best of both worlds and good luck to you if you can afford it. I wish I could afford to keep 2 houses running so I could trot off if and when I fancied it.
