Hi all, newbie here
We went to Iceland last week. Very good overall. Obviously they do have a price markup on the UK prices but actually not that bad.
Pack of burgers priced up at £1 was 1.50 euro. Big BBQ packs of meat priced up at £5 were 8.50 euros.
Everything you would find in a UK Iceland store more or less - good selection.
Regards
Martin

Ahem..I do. But it was`nt that long ago. Not in Northampton anyway.Originalmente publicado por Scorpio Ver MensajeAnyone else old enough to remember when it was called Bejam?
We paid a fleeting visit yesterday so we can`t comment on all the products and their prices, but we were very impressed by what we did see. So much so, my wife has suggested we buy another freezer !!!!
I had the pie, mash and liquor last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. We bought some Birds Eye cod fish fingers and kippers...yummee yummee..at a fraction of the price from any of the English shops. So we`ll certainly be returning....when we get another freezer.
Scorpio...If my memory is correct..could you not buy a freezer through Bejam.

We find the selection of waitrose goods very reasonable with some items cheaper than Iceland's own.Not sure it is good shelf space selling fruit and veg though, would have thought they would be better off using the space for other lines. Only a matter of time I think before many of the other English shops go under especially quick save opposite.Originalmente publicado por J J Ver MensajeThanks.
As you might guess, I haven't been yet. But it looks like it's worth a look.

Some things are a lot cheaper than carrefour such as coffee and the cravendale milk is also cheaper. But then there are things that are cheaper in Carrefour it is just a case of knowing what to buy. Great selection though. Not keen on the look of their fresh veg and fresh meat, would rather get these from Spanish Supermarket or butchers.

Marcadona is best!
I think Mercadona is much better quality than Carrefour for food, except for the chap Holandese Beer (0,18 euro a can?) which I think is very good. I much other stuff at Carrefour though, like mobile phones, tv, kitchen stuff, etc.Originalmente publicado por fudgey Ver MensajeSome things are a lot cheaper than carrefour such as coffee and the cravendale milk is also cheaper. I never went to Iceland in the UK, and don't really see why I should do it here.

Iceland
I have saved a fortune thanks to the opening of Iceland's. As a worker I only shop once a week and in the past as I have always brought fresh meat or fish and I have wasted a lot of food. I tend to socailise later than I should and decide to eat out, family or friends are here and talk us into staying out later than our usual afternoon couple of hours.
The point being that when I have fresh meat and fish I do throw quite a lot away, now I buy frozen meat or fish I only get one item out at a time, no waste at all.
Away from frozen food some prices are good some not so good. Sauces are cheap and the fresh vegtables and fruit are varied.
Been quite a few times now and never experienced a long queue to get out or any parking problems.
happy staff, happy customers.

reply to John
Thanks for the tip John but I am an old fashioned lady and my Nan and Mum taught me never to refreeze food that had been frozen before, thanks for the tip but I think I will stick to frozen meat and Fish from a freezer centre.
I believe all fresh meat and fish being sold would have been frozen before to travel under EU food laws.
