  • car hire at Alicante Airport

A few days ago I posted a thread about car hire at Alicante Airport. I wrongly asked for peoples experiences with Europacar when I really meant ECONORENT.So here I go again!!
I want to know where it is based at the airport? If it allows ( as I am lead to believe ) a full for full policy for fuel and also the cost and proceedure for picking up cars outside of normal office hours. I have been on their web site but would appreciate any information past users of ECONORENTcan provide. My past experiences are that you dont always get "what it says on the Tin!!!"

Econorent (just at Alicante & Murcia airports)

David, I assume you went into this website, did you, to book Econorent ? Click this very odd link >> hire cars in spain - car hire for alicante, malaga, jerez, torrevieja, valencia and more
If so you should have seen that Econorent give you full / full fuel policy. I use them regularly & would not dream of using any one else these days.

You pick up the car from inside the car park opposite the terminal. You get all info with your voucher. There's a contact email address on website & Martin always replies promptly.

        To David Priestman

The excess insurance isn't forced on you as some claim other hire companies do. In fact we had to mention it to the gentleman. (I say "gentleman" because he WAS one). We deal with Econorent at Murcia airport & he was English. He took us to our car (a new Citreon C3 diesel with only 2500 KM on clock, not a scratch on it when we picked it up ( sadly there was damage when we returned it) which was very close to the white van they operate from. He opened the glove compartment to show us there was a copy of the insurance document, a road traffic accident form, instructions in English on how to fill it out plus a hi vis vest. Then he opened the boot to show us there was a triangle under the floor.

We choose to take out their excess insurance as we hire for three weeks & value the underside/tyres/windscreen being covered for only 16€ per hire period. Some charge per day.

They don't charge for cancellations either, just ask you to tell them if you can't have the car so someone else can.

As I said Martin is very approachable. I hope your experience with them is as good as ours & many of our friends now. It was from recommendation we learnt about them.

We've always found them cheaper than doyouspain who we were using. We always book a Group B (although the one they gave us was a free upgrade as the one we should've had hadn't been brought back.
