I spent a few days in the new hospital earlier this year. The medical treatment was excellent but I was overlooked when it came to meals despite asking to be fed. As I am alone, there was no family to tend to me so I just went without for a couple of days.

Well I DO have personal experience and I DO have something to say and am NOT firing off or making accusations based purely on hearsay.
My partner would have stayed lying in her own pis* if I hadn't cleaned her up and would have also dehydrated or gone very hungry if I hadn't fed and watered her.
One can only comment on ones experiences and that is what I have done.
Maybe it was just my partner and mick94 who were treated like this but I have my doubts.

If what you say is true, I would certainly suggest that you follow this up with the appropriate complaints procedure which I have no doubt the hospital will have in place. I did this when my mum was advised to use her bed as a toilet at a hospital in England. She had untrated open pressure sores and c.diff and if faeces had also found its way into the sore I doubt she would be alive today. It must have been extremely upsetting for you if your partner was treated badly but you have to believe that this is certainly not the case for everyone as many testimonies on this forum have shown. There are many caring staff in the uk too but the lack of cleanliness and other methods (some of which were the reasons I "blew the whistle") led or could lead to the loss of life,in many cases with patients or relatives being unaware there was even a problem!Originalmente publicado por Placebo Ver MensajeWell I DO have personal experience and I DO have something to say and am NOT firing off or making accusations based purely on hearsay.

Looking at the spanish as thiefes, conmen and as a bunch of peasants becoming millionaires.. yes that is truly a differnt point of view.Originalmente publicado por Britbuild Ver MensajeWhy is it that many people on here have such a condescending and contemptuous attitude toward those that have an alternative viewpoint ?
Just because someone sees things differently doesnt mean that they are bitter, or in need of medication. It just means that they see things differently..................
Much the same as other europeans that view the brits as stinking, loud, ignoring, drunk, lowlifes with tattoos... also has a "different point of view"
Viewing things in a "different way" doesnt mean that you are right,
I know a lot brits, some speak spanish some dont, I for sure doesnt think of all brits as lagerlouts. Perhaps I should as I used to live in Magaluf Mallorca for quite a few years.Editado por última vez por Nalle; https://torrevieja.com/forums/member/2171-nalle en , 15:45:20.

The few who ruin it for the many
It is like with the swedes, some few mess it up for the rest. Most British (and Swedes) I know down here, are decent people. In fact that is the only reason why I try to warn people about the conmen who advertise their obviously illegal services here. No one deserves to be ripped off/swindled, not even if they have had a drink too much and perhaps would look better without so many tattoosOriginalmente publicado por Nalle Ver MensajeLooking at the spanish as thiefes, conmen and as a bunch of peasants becoming millionaires.. yes that is truly a differnt point of view.

You obviously havent been to a hospital in Spain since you dont know anything about them. I have spent a few sessions in Hospitals in Mallorca, Alicante and Elche. Due to my wife working, and both her family and mine not living in the area, I was left all alone in a hospital bed. The only thing I would complain about was the boredom. apart from that. Nothing. (when I was in Elche, and Mallorca, Nuns came in from some sort oc charity organisation and asked if I wanted them to bring me books and papers.Originalmente publicado por Placebo Ver Mensaje"The local hospital has only private rooms with en-suite, and a comfortable bed for any relative that wishes to stay the night."
LOL that's only because if a relative doesn't stay the patient won't get any care!
Regarding Mike who didnt get any food. Make a complaint. it works.Editado por última vez por Nalle; https://torrevieja.com/forums/member/2171-nalle en , 15:59:04.

No need to be bored in Torre hospital, those wonderfull 'Help' people bring fresh paperbacks twice a week. As for food, I can't complain, being a very fussy vegetarian, and lacking in appetite having been so ill, they bent over backwards to try and feed me up.
Maybe I was extra lucky? No, I can't imagine the nurses I met letting anyone starve.

I know Prince Charles is a vegetarian. I know that I love vegetables. However I, as most other who thinks selection has happened through a process of nature, I know it is not healthy. Some even question weather sick people who does not understand that chemical supplements are just that, should be allowed to raise their own children.Originalmente publicado por phat wheels Ver MensajeNo need to be bored in Torre hospital, those wonderfull 'Help' people bring fresh paperbacks twice a week. Spain
Well said ScottB.
I think for those who are complaining about this place, then they should just b--ger off back to Britain!! It´s obviously not the place for them.
Those Brits who want to live in Spain enjoy it. There´s plenty of nice places around. Admittedly, there are those areas not so nice. There again, any country in the world has those places.
I am a Brit - but since I live and work in Spain (for the past 23 years. 9 years full time here), I speak reasonable spanish. I do believe that if anyone wants to live here, then they should be prepared to at least TRY to speak spanish.
Many Brits are pure LAZY, since they think that everyone in the world speaks english, so why learn their language? WRONG!! I am a firm believer in the syaing "When in Rome....".
Anyone got any comments on the above? Would like to see it.

I am not saying this is good or bad but you asked for comments and this is what I've heard today:-
The French Education minister today announced that as all business is conducted basically in English all the French will now learn English.
(I know we're not in France before you all start jumping down my throat)

Thats just a matter of opinions though.Originalmente publicado por phat wheels Ver MensajePeople often say that this is a very beautiful area, and small towns described as 'pretty'. In my opinion these people must have come from the less scenic areas of the UK. .
Me personally thinks that the balearics are very beautiful. So also Javea and Denia. Northern Spain (Galicia etc) is beautiful but doesnt "do it" for me. But Im sure that there are several people that likes the area.
I dont live in Alicante for the Scenery (as I too think its pretty ugly) But I prefer to live here as opposed to other areas for other reasosn. Infrastucture and work being the most important. I also wouldnt want to live in OC but I know that a lot of people like the area.

I think that is excellent. I also think that its great that the Valencian government will increase english in schools.Originalmente publicado por Chrisdee Ver MensajeI am not saying this is good or bad but you asked for comments and this is what I've heard today:-

That does not make it incompatible with the idea of "when in rome" Or just because english is the most important (not the most spoken) language in the world, English speakers shouldnt need to learn the native language in the country they are in?
