I am sure that I read somewhere that Bingo was illegal in Spain, as it is a form of gambling. Here in Spain gambling is controlled by the government. But in nearly every local ex-pat newspaper, the pages are crawling with Bingo dates and times, at local pubs etc. And I have also read about pubs etc, being raided by the local police, who have taken away their equipment. No this is not about Telmicro!!!!! We eat out a couple of times a week, but we do tend to avoid the British "Meat, Pots & 2 Veg" establishments like the plague. There is nothing wrong with British cuisine, when cooked correctly, and in a clean environment. We used to frequent a local pub and often had a bar meal. Until one day I visited the toilets. Just imagine, if a place that your clients can visit at will is filthy, think what the kitchens must be like. The time of our very last visit was lunch time, so no, it was not the end of the day. Just exceptionally squalid. In fact in general, we find the British pubs expensive and dirty. With just the odd exception. I suppose when you live somewhere you have more time to make enquiries and learn from friends and neighbours. As opposed to a week or two on holiday, when time is a luxury, not to be spent trawling the pubs and restaurants, for cleanliness and value.

The best way to treat people like that, is with your feet, and your mouth, telling friends and neighbours not to frequent such establishments. We had our house several years before me came here to live. We went ONCE to a fast food establishment in Cabo Roig. I am vegetarian and they had veggie burgers on the menu. So it was, two burgers, one meat, one veggie, and two cokes, that then turned into four, as it was very warm. The food was not even average, below McDonald's, without the goofy, spotty smile. And we were made to feel grateful that they were serving us. Looking back we both thought we should leave, it is a lesson we have certainly learnt from. The shock was when the bill came. Our fault, we never thought to check, but the cokes were 4 euros each. Our bill for a sloppy, greasy lunch was more than that of an evening meal in our local Spanish restaurant with wine. It was not even "the real thing" as it came out of a tap, into a pint glass, two thirds full of ice. Again we were at fault for not checking the drinks tariff before ordering. But this was back in 2003, 16 euros for four cokes, would probably require a loan now.Originalmente publicado por Chrisdee Ver MensajeSo, what you have to do then is, when you leave any roast pototoes leave your teethmarks in um! I had a bad experience with the women owner of the bar/restaurant called "The Ship" in Aguas Nuevas, she was English and she was a right old bag. Honest to god, we had done nothing wrong, wasn't rude, loud, badly dressed, just a normal family going out for Sunday lunch. When my father asked for more water to be added to the teapot as the tea was like syrup, she turned around and said "You effing British are all the same, want something for nothing". We couldn't believe it. God knows why we just didn't get up and walk out there and then, think we were stunned/shocked at her attitude. Needless to say we have never been back.
This was about 5 years ago, with a bit of luck the old bag has gone now.

This is a private event at an Argentinians house.
My hobby , pastime , passion is Tango Argentina . (another story )
My wife and I have more Argentinian friends here in Spain than Spanish ones.
Many Argentinians have dual passports (Italian , Spanish etc ) so they able to come over Spain to work .
I love Argentina , especially Buenos Aires. The people are mainly Italians ...who speak Spanish .....who think they are English !!!!!
Afternoon tea is a ritual at the great beef ranches.
The Argentinians are very educated , well read , well mannered , speak more slowly than the Spanish so are easier to understand.
I would love to move out there to live but for family reasons it is not possible now!!!!

Was out last week and having a Menu del Dia at El Huertano in Torrevieja, a really good place serving traditional Spanish dishes, we managed to order a couple of "sheeps heads". Do not ask, and I can now claim to have eaten sheeps brains and tongue.
I am not bragging, it was quite disgusting, and await the dreaded brain disease.
