Nalle, what you doing, I rely on you and you've let me down on this one.
You don't need a licence for owning a TV you do need one if you watch it.
    (Only UK I know)

You need a TV Licence to use any television receiving equipment such as a TV set, digital box, DVD or video recorder, PC, laptop or mobile phone to watch or record television programmes as they're being shown on TV.

If you use a digital box with a hi-fi system or another device that can only be used to produce sounds and can't display TV programmes, and you don't install or use any other TV receiving equipment, you don't need a TV Licence.

yes but the license would still be for owning a TV (or any other equipment that can be used for recieving TV)
If you have a TV and aerial but never watches it, you will still be obliged to pay the license. Thats what I meant by saying that you dont pay the license to watch, but to own.

TV Licence required to watch TV transmissions in UK but not in Spain, right ?

For heaven's sake, don't suggest TV licences to the Spanish or else they devise another scheme to have us standing hours in a queue with 100 documents to pay yet another tax. I honestly believe there are more taxes here than anywhere and they creep up on you like a tart on the roundabout or a lookie lookie man in Torrevieja or indeed a house burglar in Orihuela Costa (we had a couple of homes broken into last night - people asleep in bed - frightening!)

          UK Television in Spain

Can anyone help. As companies are charging in excess of 1000 euros to install a satellite dish and reciever is there any way of doing it myself.
Does anyone know what type of dish,LNB, and reciever i would need to pick up the best signal.
Hope someone out there knows something.

              UK Television in Spain

Hi Gal, will certainly let you know if i hear anything.
I can buy a 2.4 metre dish in the UK for about £200 but obviously need to know if it is the correct dish.

Gal, I believe the UK TV licence fee is now collected by the government who then issue annualised agreed grants to the BBC. However, the BBC also receives funding from BBC Worldwide which is a commercial entity upon which advertising is a prime source of revenue.

                    Satellite Decoder

At present I am using a 1metre dish with a Metronic Digital Terminal Ouralis Evolution 3, it is pointing at the Astra Satellite and the reception is excellent.
The problem is I can only receive about 30% of the 1006 channels listed on the terminal, about 10 news channels and the rest in German & French etc.
My question is if I connect a Freeview Satellite Decoder instead of the Digital Terminal will I get more of the channels i.e: Movies & Sports?
Nothing too technical please as I am not a fully-qualified satellite TV installer just a bloke with screwdriver & pliers (What are the qualifications that you need anyway? It´s hardly rocket science!)

I did the same with a bit of help ! The Sirius satellite has some English language channels as well - most of mine come from the Astra (s) and the Sirius. I get quite a few film channels between them - True Movies 1, True Movies 2, Movies 4 Men, Movies 4 Men 2, Movies 24, the fight channel (sports) etc etc. plus the full range of news channels and a couple of documentary and life style type channels and loads of music and children's channels. As you say, why do we need to pay these con men so much to do something so easy ? My box does not have a card and these are free to air channels.

                        Hi Julie,
Can you tell me please which satellite you´re getting your film channels from - I have about 3,500 channels but can´t find any films?
Also, what size is your dish?
Yours may be bigger than mine...................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
                        Many Thanks.
