I thought that area was pretty much established and one of the safer places, sorry to hear you are having so many problems, hope you have an alarm and that you keep safe.
Just out of interest, do you you get many police patrols? I live near Playa La Naufragos which I admit has a lot of Spanish and we are always seeing the police around here patrolling around. They even use the local cafes!

2 different townhalls. OC is a lot more extensive than Torrevieja so the police has a much bigger area to cover.

I would not use the gun route either. you are only getting yourself into trouble. However you can always get a Starters pistol that only fires blanks. They are completely legal and available at any armory.

But Im not sure I would recommend that either. Imagina what would happen if one of the burglars had a real gun....

Hi JulieN, I'm sorry to hear about all the break-ins, sounds awful. I'm very interested in the advice your president is giving about renting cars. This could be something I could use in the paper to warn people (particularly if people's families are coming over). I notice on this forum you can't pm people, but you can get hold of me on rebecca@coastrider.net. I won't publicise your urb of course because we don't want to attract even more of the same, but that's a lot of break-ins to endure in such a short period of time.

I hope the warning helps. I wonder if you would know where we could get some help? I live near playa los naufragos. Outside our block there is a "piloto" which is basically just a shell now. Squatters have come and gone since I have lived here for 6 years. Mostly they have kept themselves to theirselves but the last two years we have had real problems.
          1. Using the area as a toilet
          2. Vermin from the rubbish left
          3. Furniture (chairs, cookers, sofa etc all outside)
          4. Slaughtering of animals to eat - I have seen a lamb being carried over alive and its remains in the skip a couple of hours later. I know a goat was also killed there. Remember this is on land used in the summer as a car park for the bea ch and therefore in full view for everyone including children that use it as a walkway.
          5. This year the people in there have taken to "acquiring" metal gates from around the area, they break them up and I presume sell the bits to scrap merchants. Between here and Dia Prix in June I counted 24 missing gates! People replaced them as they arrived in July/August but only tonight they are out there again doing the same thing.
          6. Several denouncias have been made - NOTHING done!
          7. Police have been here - NOTHING done!
These people are not to the best of my knowledge Spanish, but are eastern european.
Our block is mainly Spanish so I know it is not through lack of communication that nothing has been done. Surely, if we are to promote our town we should be able to get this building knocked down so no one can live there? It is a waste of time locking it with padlocks - they simply take them off!!!
          Any suggestions?

Try contacting the Neighbourhood Watch, they seem to get things sorted. I don't know the number but I'm sure you could look it up. It's late now and I'm off the bed but if you can't find it tomorrow, then I'll have a look and find a contact, if nobody else beats me to it.
It's appauling that the police have come and not done anything. Could the residents not brick the entrance up, although they'd probably just break through? It must be really fustrating for you.

Found this number for the Neighbourhood watch secretary 96 571 6258, perhaps she could help you.
