    More expensive than the UK!!!

The local press is continually reporting that local football teams here in Spain are unable to cover their costs and pay their players. You say it is expensive to watch football here, a season ticket for Torrevieja is 120 euros, at Burton Albion you can pay 236 pounds to stand on the terraces in the wind, rain and cold. I know which I prefer.

I think you would find Torrevieja are not even at conference level if they played in the UK
You are right 120 euros for say 20 games works out at 6 euros very good value but at 15 euros that is more than double for one game .
Like you I have stood watching football in all weather and the temperate climate here is much better.

Prices here in spain are way way less thanin the uk, well at least in England.
At Torry, season tickets are 120 for gents and 80 for ladiers and pensioners. Kids under 16 enter FREE.
Thats 6euros per game for gents and 4 euros for ladies and OAPs. If that is expensive.......................its about the same as going to the pictures here in spain or having a couple of drinks in your local.
If you pay on the gate, prices are 12 and 8 respectively. Kids under 16 are free.
So a typical family (mun, dad and 2 kids U 16) day out at a live game will cost you 20 euros!!! I dare anybody to beat that and you get to watch a game of live pro football.

As to the level Torry would be in back home, thats a difficult one. Maybe top end of Conferance or low end of second division. Having played at conferance level I can certainly say that the top clubs in the spanish 3rd division (grouo 6 where Torry play) would more than hold their own against the top conferance sides, whilst the top conferance sides would all hold their own against the mid/low 2nd div sides.

Whatever, the point of this is that for a very small amount of money you get to see a pro game of live football with all the atmosphere, programme, etc and get a beer at the same time!! You never know you may even come back for more once you try it.

Foe us Torry fans, we have kept the faith though our bad season last term, where we almost folded, and have come out the other end in a better condition. It may be difficult to make a realistic challenge for promotion this season, but next year may well be different.

        Come on Torry!!!

Pity Roger Hunt isn't playing for the Liverpool Legends. I had a chat with Roger recently prior to him playing golf in Spain. Amongst the party was Gordon Banks. I managed to pull out a £20 note - and duly got Roger and Gordon to sign it! The wife said, 'what did you do that for? - it's only worth about a tenner now!'.
As a sports journalist I have also met and got former Liverpool manager Gerard Houlier's autograph.
Away from Liverpool, I recently did filming on Spanish channel Viva TV on their Let's Talk programme, about David Beckham (not all Liverpool fans hate him, do they?). I have chronicled Beckham's career, mainly focussing on his loan spell at Preston North End from Manchester United in 1995, in the book: David Beckham-In at The Deep End. The slot is to be shown in December.
Links to the book and newspaper articles can be found on the internet, via, David Beckham-In at The Deep End.
Good luck to Liverpool in their game against Torry.

not sure if Roger Hunt is a regular player in the Liverpool leyands side, although a Liverpool Leyand he most certainly is.
There are lots of players that for one reason or another, could not make the game, which is a shame, but there are still enough stars here for us fans to enjoy.
Should be a great day and the meal afterwards with both sets of players should be very interesting.

Tickets still available from the Torry Army office (Urb. San Luis), the Pantry Supermarket (San Luis), any of the Torry Army Committee or from the ground on Saturday. I have been informed that the ticket office at the ground will be open from 11am on Saturday.

Just to thank everybody that came to the game last saturday and then the 250 or so that attended the evening meal.
Great to see so many legands and one or two of them are fantastic after dinner speakers.
Great entertainment and a massive thanks to the organisers.

MAYBE some of the Liverpool legends will be needed in the New Year - having drawn my home town club Preston in the FA Cup!
And former Reds striker Neil Mellor said he won't be stuffing himself with turkey over Christmas.
"I won't be tucking into much turkey over Christmas - so I can get in top shape for the game!," said Mellor.
"I just couldn't believe it when Liverpool were pulled out. And it will be a bizarre experience for me to play against them," said Mellor, who left Anfield in a £500,000 move to Deepdale in 2006.
Mellor left after 22 appearances for The Reds when off-loaded by Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez: "Rafa said it was time to make a career move. "And it was upsetting to leave. But I will never forget my time at Liverpool," said Mellor.
"The staff were brilliant and it is such a special club to play for. I always want Liverpool to do well. It would be fantastic if they lift the Premier League trophy in May," said Mellor.
Preston will turn back the clock nearly 50 years - ahead of their dream FA Cup third round tie against Liverpool at Deepdale in January.
Preston last played Liverpool in the FA Cup in 1962. The Reds won 1-0 in a second replay at Old Trafford - after 0-0 draws at both Anfield and Deepdale.
And the tie is extra-special for Lilywhites boss Alan Irvine - former assistant manager of Liverpool's arch rivals Everton - under Goodison boss David Moyes.
"From a personal point of view it will have that little extra bit because of my time with Everton," said Irvine, who quit The Toffees for Deepdale a year ago.
"It is a fantastic draw - they don't come much bigger than Liverpool," said Irvine.
"Liverpool are an excellent side, one of the best in Europe. And I'm sure Rafa will field a very strong side - filled with stars," said Irvine.
"I'm sure all the players will be absolutely desperate to play - games you dream of as a kid," said Irvine.
And Mellor, 25, who has signed a new four-year contract with The Lilywhites, said: "Hopefully the manager picks me."
The Reds will run out in front of Liverpool and Scotland legend The Bill Shankly Kop at Deepdale's new 24,000 capacity stadium.
Former Liverpool manager Shankly played in the 1938 FA Cup Final for Preston in the 1-0 win against Huddersfield Town at Wembley.
So, having played against Torry, perhaps Benitez will be giving the Liverpool Legends a call - ahead of their tough assignment against Preston. (All said, tongue-in-cheek!)
Well done too to the organisers who put on the Torry versus Reds fixture. A lot of hard work goes into organising such events.
