Thanks Bombero, this is very useful and easy to understand for a non technical person. It verifies what we are reading which is that is you want to get free to view channels you need a 2.4 metre dish. I also understand that because of the size of it you would need town hall planning permission to install one even if you do have the space.
I also understand that any dish that is smaller and pointing down instead of up to the sky is just bouncing off somebody else's dish and could get the chop at any time.
I have learnt so much about t.v in the last few weeks I think I could start up my own t.v business.
No comments required thank you.
Not strictly accurate because there are plenty of people with dishes from 1.3 to 1.5 who get everything except bbc2. There are also people with the bigger dishes who cannot get bbc2 so it is not as simple as saying ''you need a 2.4m dish'', it varies even within that footprint.
I installed a 1.9 last week (Famaval PF) and it works very well. I even get BBC2 intermittently and that me setting up with a small sat-finder. I'm having someone fine tune it with test equipment soon so it should get better.
