I am planning to buy a new LCD TV for my home in the UK, and want to bring my existing TV to Spain to replace the old one I have in my Apartment. The TV I want to ship is a 37inch Toshiba LCD and I am keen to know how much this will cost. I have done a few Google searches with little success, but before I continue I wondered if anyone has done this before or heard of a cost effective way of doing this? Any help would be gratefully received.

please make sure that when you buy your new television in the UK that you get expert details to confirm that this tv can be used in Spain. There is a difference in the broadcasting. UK use pal-** and Spain uses pal-** ( not sure what letter it is), but you may not get the sound working in Spain with a UK television.

Spain and the UK use PAL 625/50 but the sound carrier is offset from the picture signal by a different amount.
The differences are indicated by the suffix letter to the PAL designation, i.e. the UK uses PAL-I and Spain uses PAL-B/G.
This may mean that you could fine-tune to receive either the picture or the sound but not both. The stereo sound (NICAM) and colour system is identical for all types.
Some tv sets will manage to capture the picture & sound together ok but some will not. You could try contacting your set maker and asking them if it can be done - and if any small "tweak" is possible.
A modern one by a reputable maker will be designed for as wide a market as possible so it should be possible.
Buy the way Spain will go over to DVB (digital video broadcasting) in 2010 and all PAL (terrestrial) signals will stop.Comentario

I brought my bog standard Pioneer 43" plasma and it works fine. Most modern TV's have a country selection menu anyway. The built in Freeview (DVB) also works well and I'v set up the primary voice channel to be English so get English audio when it is transmitted.

Just to complete the answer to "can I use my UK bought LCD TV in Spain". The first answer I got from Toshiba was a "NO" !! When I explained further that the Toshiba 37WLT68 was multi-tuner to appeal to a wide european audience, and that I was primarily going to us it for satellite viewing the second response was .......
"In answer to your question it may well work out there as long as the voltage out there is correct it will certainlly work with a sattellite set top box, the only thing that you have got to look at other wise is that if the TV should go wrong is getting it repaired."
... think they would have preferred me to buy 2 new TVs, one in the UK and one in Spain, and not re-use one ; there's a surprise !!!Comentario
