UK Minister James Plaskitt MP to launch benefit fraud 'whistleblowers hotline' in Alicante

The vast majority of British nationals who live abroad are law abiding but some are claiming UK benefits they are not entitled to. 'Abroad fraud' is costing UK taxpayers an estimated £93 million a year.

James Plaskitt MP is the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Department for Work and Pensions responsible for benefit fraud amongst other areas. He will be launching a benefit fraud "whistleblowers hotline" in the Alicante area.

I know who will call them regarding pirate TV transmitters and dodgy installers....

Why bother setting up a hot line when if they sent a couple of benefit fraud agents over to Orihuela Costa and had a couple of nights out in the many 'Irish' pubs around the area they could nick hundreds of the layabouts!

The UK Government spend years making it so easy for people to de fraud the system - benefits paid into bank accounts instead of at the old Dole offices and then they wonder why people nip over to the sunshine and draw the money out here!

Hope they clear the lot of them out...

many people i know are claiming benifits fron england one person claims for his wife and himself /sick pay/dla he can be seen many times painting with a belt around his waist for support ,if he is claiming for his wife wat is he doing painting all day and leaving her alone when asked what he is charging he does it as a favour and doesnt charge so no need to pay spanish tax on earnings when he does air port runs he takes the fare before the airport so know one sees him take his fare from his passangers the spanish gov should be also looking at these people ,illegal taxies, pool cleaners and people who moved to spain with their black and decker to become handymen also key holders/cleaners not paying tax or spanish social but use english address to go back for medicals so england do not know they live in spain
