San Javier Airport Expansion

Does anyone know which routes will be added when the San Jvier airport expansion is completed?

I cannot see that a new Murcia airport is feasible if San Javier is expanded. It would not make commercial sense to build another airport if the increased demand can be catered for by the San Javier expansion.

The expansion of any airport and development of facilities usually means that exsisting users expand their services to their main hub and attracts new users.

For instance BA do not operate a daily service at present to Gatwick however if the facilities improve and there is a good market it will go to a daily and even double daily during peak times.

The low cost carriers ( I use the term loosely as BA is often cheaper BA.com) will move in and open routes to Stanstead, Luton, Southampton etc.

Other European carriers will also expand services to their own countries.

Building a new airport takes years to complete and the authorities predict how much expansion is possible at one location and if a new airport would be required say in 2010. Alicante is heavily used and the traffic needs to think of alternatives.
