We have just had a large sum of money go out of our cam bank account to bmb gestion.We had no notice of this & have given no authorisation to anyone .So far, we only know it is something to do with vat. on the deeds ?? Has anyone else had anything like this ??

You should receive an official statement from them (Cam) - I am sure it is for the buying, selling, any liquidacon of mortgage, property registration etc to do with your purchase. Just ring them, it does pee you off a little though when they just take it from account but that is the norm in Spain

Similar thing happened to me. I bank with Bankinter.
It seems that there is no system whereby you are notified in advance of any "Direct Debit" type transactions.
Best to look back through all your purchase / completion correspondence -it's quite likely a Bank fee for arranging and dealing with a mortgage or legal charge on your property and it's almost certainly something that you've agreed to and signed for in the past.

You must have, at some point, agreed for this transaction to take place. I know this is a Spanish bank, but they do have some rules!

As for receiving notification from banks for outbound direct debits, this doesn't happen anywhere! My Spanish bank doesn't do it, and my UK bank doesn't either.

Your best bet would be to speak with your bank, or your solicitor, to ascertain exactly what it is for.
