Why is the pound in a state of collapse ?

Some movement over the past 24 hours but ending up where it was yesterday opening.

Well, I've drawn a few euros out on the basis of minor upward movements by Sterling and I'm glad to note that the exchange rate has picked up a bit before the weekend. Let us all hope it continues this way, particularly those of us on fixed Sterling incomes.

£1 = 1.21 Euro
Euro = 82.7 pence

With this news, the hope must be that with lower Euro interest rates, the Euro might be a little less attractive than the Pound giving us a slightly stronger Pound:

Due to the uncalled for nastiness shown toward me on the Astronomy thread in the specialist 'department' which cuased me great upset, I am going to confine myself to this thread only.

Today the pound is again trading very weakly against the Euro. The ECB look likely to cut interest rates on Thursday but the BofE look to make deeper cuts.

£1 = 1.17 Euro
Euro = 85.4 pence

I see the Pound has dropped to an apparent all time low v. the euro today at a quid buying 1.163 euros !

BofE meeting today and a drop in interest rates likely. In advance of that, a substantial drop in Sterling this AM:
1.154 Euros / 86.7p
