    Satandpcguy, ebt your advice please
Originalmente publicado por satandpcguy Ver Mensaje
as the 2600 is one of the best boxes for the CB and on that dish, you should get it....

other channels similar to that frequency are Sky 2 and 3, Sky Sports news - these are on the 2a and 2b north beams - just like 11778....

if you cannot get these channels also then you may need your dish / LNB tweeking....
Installers came back Tuesday said '11778 is only for UK not Spain and NO-one in Spain gets it!' The services 4,6 'signal test tells lies' and take no notice of it. When they went we still had no background music(I don't want the music as such, just using it as alignment indicator), and no Sky 2/3, although my neighbour still had it but it was our cable he had disconnected from dish. He came back and said it was our pace 2600 box that we had never had any trouble with! After adjusting LNB/dish we got channels back. We always had good reception on BBC2 and ch4 morning and evening but now they are breaking up, the main installer is coming back again today but I am back in UK now so will not be able to check TV until end of Dec. We originally contacted them as one of my neighbours channels were breaking up and our Sky 2/3 were a bit hit and miss, I wish we had left it alone! Comments/advice please what should I be asking them to do?

      what a crock of.....
even tho your neighbour gets it.
and many others in spain (you get this frequency if you can get the epg background music as this music is on that frequency! mines playing at the moment, and i can get it on a 1.2m dish until 2pm.

it shows the signal strength of the default transponder only - normally this is 11778.
it can vary from sky box to sky box as some sky boxes are more powerful than others and therefore can receive it better. 2600s shoulds be able to get this with no problems..maybe not during the afternoon when it is weakest, but definatly in the am and late evening.

unless you are using the exact same receiver as your neighbour then comnparisons cannot reeally be made , as like i said, different boxes perform differently.

get someone else in...these sound like they dont know what they are talking about.

and its upto you if you want to name and shame...

Thanks, that's what I thought but as he says he does this every day and he is yet to see a box that can get 11778! My neighbours that share the dish think it is me that is wrong! My neighbours all have Pace Ds430N boxes. We will have to see what happens today but if it is no better I will ring ebt at end of Dec when we are next out.

One last question - none of our 4 boxes default back to 11778 no matter how long they are off, we awere away for 4 weeks last time but still on 12129 when we plugged it back in, is this an indication of anything? Sorry to go on - but it's really annoyed me and I will name and shame if they don't sort it today!

          Hi lennon.
Read your post, and as no one appears to have replied, I thought I would tell you what I did for TV in our holiday apartment in Torrevieja.
Got myself a small (80cm) dish from one of the local DIY stores, bought over an LNB from England (about £5), some digital quality cable, and a second hand Sky digibox £30 from our local papers small ads.
Setting it up is fairly straight forward. Align your dish to 28.2 degrees of due south, Fine tune with either a "satfinder" or your TV if you can put it where you see it. Change the transponder setting from the default of 11.778 to 12.129, and you will then be able to view all the free to air channels on the Astra 2 south beam, and a fair few on Eurobird 1, including BBC radio 1.2.3 and 4.
You will have more than enough to keep you amused while on holiday.
Hope that is of some help.
thats of great help thatks a million will get working on it next time im over

            Hi Steve
We now have a free view card for our pace box but really only have gained the 5'S and sky 3 (which is breaking up is this normal for sky 3?) should we be getting much more? and, sorry, but we should get cbeeiebs and cbbc but dont? is this because we dont get bbc2 because of the LNB do you think?
cheers and thanks for your help the other day

sky3 (along with about 20ish sky sub channels) can break up during the afternoon (its on 2a or bs north beam) which is weak.
cbbc and beebies are on the same freq as bbc2 (and free five).

                help please

I am in Blue Lagoon, just over the road from Eagles nest nr Villa Martin.
Last week I had a dish installed (1.45m) and bbc1 breaks at midnight, itv breaks up at midnight, bbc2, sky 2 and 3 and ch4 I get no signal received and so far am not impressed at what I payed for.
Ihave been badgering the installer to come and replace it with a 1.9m dish, (which I originally wanted but he said a 1.45m) would be ok.

Any one got any experience of what I should or should not be receiving---I have a sky receiver and a freeview receiver..
The installer says no one gets bbc2 or ch4 in this area---have a feeling I am being fobbed off.
Am back in Spain on Tuesday and hope to try and sort it all then..
Any help/advice would be much appreciated...
wish I had known about this site earlier..
                Many Thanks

BBC2/Chan4 are an absolute NO NO on your dish size. In my experience, it should get you BBC1 and Chan3 24/7 if set up accurately. 1.8 minimum for BBC2, and then you will lose it xome of the evening/night.

You will probably need to change default transponder - here are the instructions from another site.

When a Sky receiver is first booted up, like after a power cut, then the first thing it requires to function is at least 6 hours of EPG information. It looks for this data on the Default transponder frequency of 11778.
this frequency can be poor in Spain, and therefore the receiver will ont be able to find the information is required and therefore will not work - giving the message "No satellite Signal is Being Received".
Changing the default transponder to another frequency (i use 12129) allow the receiver to get the information it requires to function.

What to do if you are getting the message “No Satellite signal is being received”

1.This usually means that your Digibox is blocked and you are unable to receive the signals it requires. This usually occurs after power cuts or other interruptions to the Digibox power supply.
2.Remove the power cable from the Digibox only. This can be found on the back of the Digibox, and is normally a black cable on either the extreme left or right of the Digibox. Reinsert the power cable after 30 seconds.
                          3.Turn on the Digibox.
4.On the Sky remote control press the SERVICES button
5.On the Sky remote control press 401 (four zero one) and then the SELECT button.
6.If the above has been done correctly you should see the Installer Setup Menu screen. If you do not see the Installer Setup Menu screen then start this process again.
7.Press “2” on your Sky remote control.
8.If done correctly should be looking at the Default Transponder screen.
9.On the Sky remote control press 12129 (one two one two nine). This will change the default FREQUENCY to 12.129.
10.Ensure that the default POLARIZATION is “V”.
Ensure that the default SYMBOL RATE is “27.5”.
Ensure that the default FEC is “2/3”.
11.On the Sky remote control press the DOWN ARROW button three times and then press SELECT. This will SAVE NEW SETTINGS and return you to the Installer Setup Menu screen.
12.On the Sky remote control press the BACK UP button until you exit all the menus.
If done correctly the time will appear on the white bar, and picture will shortly reappear – try channel 501 (Sky News).

for a downloadable PDF of the Default Transponder process, or watch a video of the process in operation see
The Sat and PC Guy - BBC ITV Sky Freesat UK Default Transponder Settings Costa Blanca Spain

No matter what people tell you changing this default transponder does not increase how long channels are available. It is only used to “assist” the receiver to boot up. It is normal for the Default Transponder to revert back to 11778 once the receiver is functioning.
                          Hi
would the above instructions work on all makes of sky boxes?, it works on my pace but my friend cant do it on her Thomson box...unless shes not followed instructions properly??? thanks

if she gets no date and time in the top left of the screen after doing the process then there is a problem with the system..either the LNB has gone, the dish is not aligned, the box has gone.

also, make sure the box registered the "0", as if it does not you do not gain access tot he installer set up menu

Hi English, I have just found the forum and wondered if you can give me some advice? I live in El Chaparral near Torrevieja and have a 1.9 Portuguese dish, shared with two neighbours. I have two connections from a 4^LNB. I am trying to run an extra connection to the second bedroom to an Amstrad 550 sky box. The connection is made from the "Loop Out" connector on the main box which is a "MX-ONDA", bought here in Spain. All I get is no satellite signal received. I have tested the signal with a satellite tester loaned to me by a friend and Astra2D shows 35-40% signal.I have also updated the software.I have been given two frequencies by friends who have their own systems,-12.206 & 12.129. I am a complete novice and have only got this far by searching the internet but I am stuck now.
Any help and advice will be gratefully received,...sam stuart
