Warning About False International Driving Licence

I am a Spaniard who has many English friends and has dealt with the English community for 20 years and has noticed many Foreigners buying International Driving Licenses advertised in the local papers like Sur in English and Town Crier etc. This license is a scam and is not valid anywhere, maybe you are lucky and are stopped by a confused police officer you might get away with it, but believe me if you have any sort of accident involving another vehicle or even worse, a person you have no idea what sort of trouble you getting into. For a start your insurance company when they check the license will not cover you and when the department of trafico check your license you will be in deep trouble. The reason why I say this is some people we know bought one out of the local paper sold by a man who calls himself the dogman and after having a small accident involving another vehicle the insurance says the license is not valid and they are facing paying 7000 € damages to the owner of the other vehicle and a court procedure. This person who is selling these licenses is making a lot of money ( 400 € upwards per license ) just tricking people into thinking they are buying a full driving license and if getting a license without doing any sort of test was possible, everybody would be doing it . My advice if you have bought one these licenses from this dogman person and think I am wrong check the license with your local police station or Insurance company and I think you will be very surprised with their answer. If you do check and realized you have been scammed you should denounce this person to the local or national police as if this practice continues could cause a lot of grief too many people.
