In the eight and more years I have lived here, I have been a victim of crime four times. It is the norm that you are broken into within days of taking up residence in a new home. In fact, a friend of mine strongly suspects the car hire companies in Alicante Airport and now never reveals his Spanish address and merely answers travelling or gives a hotel address when he arrives. Torrevieja's problems are drawfed by those of the neighbouring Orihuela Costa though where crime on the awful urbanisations there is rife.

So, Torrevieja doesn't suffer the same crime levels as Orihuela Costa? What is classed as an "awful urbanization?"

I have lived in Torrevieja for 6 years....near Playa Los Naufragos, Would I live anywhere else? No! The apartment block I live in is in the main Spanish and the few British that I meet during the day are nice people too. Don´t get me wrong, there are, like everywhere else in the world, one or two things that could be improved. One advantage that I have only just realised though is that I won´t have YOU as a neighbour! Life just gets better and better!!!

I'm a new member - and am saddened to read this sort of negative, un-substantiated and rather pathetic ' comment '.
WHY do some people even bother to post such rubbish ?
Haven't they got better things to do than make cheap and sensationalist jibes ?
                  Pathetic

Am I the only person here who actually loves where they live, crime is rife all over the world tell me a place without crime and I'll call you a liar, I come from Henley-on-Thames an idyllic place in Oxfordshire but even there crimes are committed (horror) and I tell you this I wouldn't go back there either because all it does is rain there, Torrevieja and the OC could be spruced up a bit I agree but come on open your eyes go down to the sea its lovely here.

No Mazzer, you most certainly are not alone. I love the place and it would take something pretty dire to move me back to the UK. I live on an urbanisation but it is friendly, clean and we have far more to do with our neighbours than we ever did back in ol´blighty.

I suppose not many people post on here that they like it in Spain because they are out there doing just that, enjoying their life here.

I am very sorry that Pensionista´s car has been stolen and I hope you resolve the situation soon.

My neighbour's car was recently stolen after his keys were nicked....

Happily - the car was recovered after about 2 weeks - with no damage.

Hope this case has a similar happy resolution....
