We need to do a regular money transfer from our English to our Spanish bank account. There seems to be so many companies doing this for varying monthly fees. Can anyone reccomend a company that is cheap and reliable? -Rachel

Hi Rachel.
I transfer money monthly to my Spanish account using the following company. There is no fee and the exchange rates are good. They achieve this by lumping lots of small monthly payments into one exchange rate transaction, and therefore make their money that way. You will, however, be charged an inbound fee by your Spanish bank. I have a standing order from my UK account to GCEN's client account, and the money just moves as if by magic each month!

I have always been extremely happy with MoneyCorp. Apart from anything else I like the fact that they have an office here. So you can deal with real people not just by phone or the internet (although, of course, that IS how the transactions are made).

If you get an account with Halifax in England - then get an account with Halifax Espana (branch in Torrevieja) - you can transfer to the latter without charge using the telephone. Thats what we do. However we transfer a large amount more or less annually.

Open a Flexaccount with Nationwide before you leave the UK.
Use your card to withdraw 300 E per day from any ATM in Spain and Nationwide charge you nothing.
And the rate will be surprisingly good.
The Halifax service sounds good for large amounts but the exchange rate will be rotten. That is of course how they make their money.
For large amounts try Moneybookers.com
I do hope this post does not get pulled.

Money Transfer
I would'nt go past Banco Halifax main branch at Park Of Nations, this can all be set up in England, halifax bank can give you telephone details. as long as you have 600Euros in your account it does not cost to transfer money from UK to Spain, Direct Debits etc. you get telephone banking, a cash line card to use when you are in Torrevieja. and can be used at most cashline outlets, you also get a statement every month that you can understand, telephone enquiries by English speaking assistants, and very good service. We used to be with La Caixa (nightmare trying to communicate with them)
