Export certificate
Hi
The last few years we had to get an Export licence, for Spain, from the vet to say that dog was fit to travel. The licence lasted for 12 days - annoying really because no one ever checked it as we travelled through the border
With the new Pet Passport, which came in last year, we have also been told by DEFRA (and their web site confirms this) that the Export licence is no longer required
We are setting off next week with just the Pet Passport booklet
Have a good trip

Pet passport
I too am bringing my pet Cavalier king Charles Spaniel over, and as I understand matters, the export licence is not required if the passport route is being followed.
However I also understand that the vet will need to see the pet a few days before tavelling in order to confirm that the pet is fit to travel and has been wormed etc recently.
I hope this helps.

Pet Passport
While an animal does need to be in a fit state to travel, according to DEFRA, it is not a requirement for it to examined by a vet before travelling
I am not aware of any paperwork that a vet needs to complete to show that the animal had been examined prior to the journey

Thanks very much for all the replies. it has certainly put my mind at rest. this will be the first time we have driven down at all and we were particularly worried about making sure everything was in order with paperwork for the dog. Looking forward to getting to torre next week.
thanks again.
