  • Community Centre - Orihuerla Costa

It really is surprising how much loneliness there is here and I know that Torrevieja and many of its suburbs do have community centres.

I have just spoken to two widowed neighbours of mine who would be so keen to have a community centre here on Orihuela Costa where they could call in for a cup of reasonably priced tea or coffee and a chat, maybe even a game of cards, ludo or something.

I am actually quite keen to get involved in such a venture in 2009, perhaps making the tea, even supplying the board games of which I have several.

Does OC have such a venue does anyone know ?

Actually there is a large Council owned building behind the Supercor building, near
Flamenca Beach commercial centre, that is a community centre. I have never seen anyone in it so it might be worth enquiring.

That would be the best idea I have heard in a long time. I have never known loneliness like here. I live alone on one of these big estates in Orihuela Costa and there are no neighbours around at all. The houses are all empty or are up for sale and it is like a ghost town here. Hour after hour of silence drives you mad ! With the crisis, I don't have spare cash now but a community centre would be a great idea.

        Coffe mornings

I think some of the decent bars would welcome some morning trade, even if its onlyfor coffee

Dont want to speak out of turn or offend anyone re age etc, but I understand on a monday afternoon the Help foundation have a meeting place at the Baker Foundation [just off market road in Playa Flamenca] It may suit someone, I understand the people play cards, scrabble etc

Why not set up your own little coffee morning, already there are two of you interested. How about the singles clubs, I know people who go to these and they are so busy with one trip or another and meals out, bowling etc. They have the times of their lives. How about joining a bowls club or Petanca, it's a way of meeting other people.

Thanks for that, very interesting. With this, I shall now contact Mr Pokroppa - expat liaison man at the Town Hall about its useage early in the New Year.

                Seasons greetings.

Could I trouble you for the location of Via Park 5 ? I knew of a Via Park and Via Park 2 but not much beyond that. Many thanks in advance.

hi there i,m not sure where you are but via park 3 is in Los Altos and via park 5 is further down from there or if you come down the 332 to punta prima and turn up there from the roundabout and keep going straight up as far as you can go then turn left you will pass consum on your left keep going until you reach vai park3 the via park 5 is a right turn from there and further down the road. Today a couple from Norway came to petanca never seen them before but told them we be there next week think they enjoyed themselves and its a social thing hope this helps

                              Community Centre

Isn't there a centre behind Supercor?

I have been told that anyone can join but whenever I have been there you have to be over 60..........................
