NIE Applications

Good of my solicitor to tell me 2 weeks before the completion date that the law was changed last year and we have to get our NIE numbers before we can complete, especially as we are in the UK!!

They have told me that we can get them in Oriheula. I'm sure I saw a posting on here some time ago that said we have to go to Alicante. Can anyone confirm whether we can still go to Oriheula?

It as just changed and it seems to have caught a lot of people out .
It depends were your new home is situated as to were you go for your nie number.( as I understand it ) You will have to ask your solicitor that one . It could be that it is easier to obtain it in Oriheula than going to Alicante. Alicantee can be a nightmare.
I went to ELX so it was not too bad at all .

we got ours up at Oriheula it was quite painless we filled the forms in on line (in spainish) very easy as we had no spainsh at the time, took all the revelent stuff passports Ect up to the police station after 4pm, handed them in and went back in 1 week later and was given them there and then, total time in the police station 20 to35 Mins, total cost 0E, oh yes it cost the price of some passport photos, total satisfaction 100%

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah 1 week!!!! You don't happen to know if they do it the same day do you? We don't arrive until the 7th and we complete on the 12th so we haven't got a week.

Sorry about your dilema, but look at it this way it is a one off thing and when you have your number it can open a lot of doors.
Alicante; be ther early and I mean early! There are buses available to take you to Alicante for your number, your abagado should arange this for you if you ask.

if you've got money to burn ask you abagado, but it's a lot cheeper if you just do it yourself, anyway you'll have to deal direct with the spainish people sooner or later so bite the bulit, you might find it's not as bad as others make out
