The Spanish economy

With the economies of Portugal, Italy, Greece, Spain and now Ireland badly faltering, will the European Central Bank be forced to change their policy of not cutting their 2.5% interest rate when they meet next week. Surely they would be mad not to. BofE rate now at 1.5%, US Federal bank at a quarter percent.

Spanish unemployment figures are now 3 million, incredibly high for a medium sized country. Is this not time for the ECB to act ?

I saw on the spanish channel last night tve that they were expecting over 4 million in 2009. It doesnt seem to stop Mercadona keep putting their prices up though by 10 and 20 c a time. I am sure they think no-one will notice!!!

No wonder Lidl and Aldi are doing so well.
