Hi is anyone having a problem getting the radio stations on their 1.9 satellite dishes. We have had no problems at all since we installed in last November but over the last couple of days are unable to get any radio stations at all, all tv programmes are okay. My husband has done all the manly engineering things with it, checking this and that but its a mystery where it has gone, would be interested if anyone else in Quesada area has the same problem

when i have clients who says they have lost the BBC radios 1,2,3,4 you may also have lost BBC news also - they are all on the same frequency.

this is a common feature on a failing Grundig Sky receiver - it means that your grundig box is on its way out.

it would be useful if you can confirm your make and model of digibox, and what message appears on the screen (is it "no signal being received"), and if you can get bbc news.

normally you can get these channnels on an 80cm dish, so your 1.8m dish should have no problems receiving the signals , so it may well be the receiver, or the LNB has been damaged.

Hi mystery solved. triyng to cut down on all things to do with money we have been switching everything off thats been on standby. Therein lies the problem. When we switched the box off it could not connect to the radio stations once it had been switched on a few hours later ? We got it back yesterday in the afternoon and so we have solved it by leaving the box on standby instead off switching it off Doh!! thanks Bluelaska27

it sounds like your box cannot located the information it requries to boot up after disconnecting from the main (also can happen after power cuts.).
this is because the frequency (1177 the box initially uses to locate this information can be weak in certain areas of spain.
therefore, you need to get the box to look at an alternate frequency, so that it gets its start up information from that frequency instead.
the precess can be seen on my site, along with a downloadable sheet with the instructions and a video of how to do this.
Set the Default Transponder Frequency

bbc radio 1,2,3,4 can be received on an 80cm satellite dish, pointing at the UK satellites at 28degrees, and a Freetoair (FTA / canal libre) receiver.

you cannot use a digibox (of any sort) on its own...as they need to aquire thier signal from somewhere...satellite digiboxes need a dish, TDT (spanish freeview) digiboxes need a TV aerial. I think the rebroadcasters use a satellite digibox reprogrammed for their rebroadcasting frequencies.

Thanks a lot satandpcguy my husband has agreed with everything you say and has now fixed the problem, we won't be on standby any more thanks for your info.

To the other lady, you can buy a spanish digi box and a spanish aerial to get some english speaking programmes but they are a little limited to say the least occaisionally a film in English. We have gone through all the options and basically if you want English tv it has to be a dish and a freesat box. Expensive but worth it to not worry about all the tv scams out there. kind regards bluealaska27
