Hospital Treatment

Hi don't know if anyone can help but my daughter & her partner moved to Torrevieja with their 2yo son last Nov from Fuerteventura where she had lived & worked for 7 yrs.
She got a bad rash about three weeks ago & ended up going to the doctors & had three injections in three days, which made no difference she was then sent to hospital where she had to have two intravenous infusions.

She is now on the mend but has been billed for her treatment, she tried to explain that she has been paying into the system in Spain for the last seven years & that her son was born & registered in Fuerte but they say she has not the correct paperwork although she & her partner have spanish residencia.

Can anyone please offer any advice.

Sorry to hear this. I don't really know the answer but did you go to Torrevieja Hospital which is definitely Spanish NHS and free? I do know San Jaime (hope that is the right spelling) is a private hospital so wondering if you went there.

Why is everything so complicated in Spain? I have often wondered.

Hi impey thanks for reply.
I am in UK my daughter her partner & their son live in Torrevieja.
I am not sure which hospital she went to but she has an appointment to see the British consulate & DWP on Tues in Alicante so she should get sorted.
Will keep you posted.

The British Consulate & DWP will only offer advice not sort it out for her and then tell her what to do.
As she has lived in the Canaries area only being here for 4 months, only a suggestion but did she not re-register with the salud in Torrevieja it could be as simple as that
