It appears that the electricity market is to be opened up to competion - so you will be able to 'shop around' for better deals by July. Rather like in the UK. Could be interesting as Iberdrola are about to raise prices in the ensuing months. We'll have to wait and see if it will benefit us users. Bound to be a sting in the tail I suspect.

If you pay a visit to the Iberdrola desk which is just inside the Masters Electrical store in Pilar, take your passport and account number, you can sign and have your prices that you are paying now FROZEN for 1 year. Apparently they will read your meter every month and bill you accordingly every month, no more estimates either. We did this last week and lots of my neighbours have done it this week. OK, maybe we will find out later in the day we can get electric cheaper somewhere else but for the next year we are leaving it to others to find out first and see how things pan out.
The man at the Iberdrola desk is very helpful and speaks perfect English.

Forgot to mention that Iberdrola are raising their prices by 5% every month for the next 6 months so freezing the prices we are paying at the moment is good.

Hi Chrisdee - we are not out again until July - I suppose that 'freeze' offer will be finished by then? Unless it can be done 'online',

When I was told about this by a friend she told me I had to do it by the end of May, when we went to the shop the man said we could do it anytime.
So say it goes up 5% next month perhaps that will be the price you will get it frozen at. I didn't ask about doing it online as we were there and signed there and then and nobody else has mentioned it so can't help you there, sorry.
