  • 2-pin plug english appliances

I am sure I have read about this but been through the Search and can't find anything.

I want to bring some english appliances to spain - a kettle and some small clip-on fans.

Can I buy 2 pin plugs to replace my 3 -pins with? carrefour?

is there any right and wrong way up to put the plug on (bearing in mind it goes into the wall either way up)

or would I have to just stick with wall adapter

also anyone know where I can get double 2-pin adapters ie 2 appliances into one socket - or do you have to have one of those trailing lead extensions?

    Hi Lizzy.

You can buy replacement Spanish plugs for your UK appliances in most if not all of the DIY places. They're no more difficult to wire than a UK plug. What you must make sure you do is establish whether the appliance has an earth wire (you can tell once you've taken the UK plug off). If so, you must make sure that you buy a Spanish plug which is earthed (these are the round ones as opposed to the flatter ones). Spanish plugs can be plugged in whichever way up takes your fancy. And finally, you should be able to get double plugs without a trailing lead in the DIY places too.

    Hope that helps,

    Chris.

Go into any of the one pound style shops in UK and you can buy perfectly good 3 pin to 2 pin adaptors in packs of two for a quid!

We have used them for several years now on the small appliances (kettle, toaster, DVD etc) with no problems - much better than rewiring all of the things.
