Car hire?

Hi we have been booking cars at alicante airport now for 4 years but our last 2 booking have been cancelled at the airport when we arrived so then we have to wander round all the rental company to get a car (4day hire airport rate 165 euros) even booked 3 month in advance and still no car.

Robbp, thats shocking.
Please inform us what company did this so we can all avoid.

hi servicepoint the car hire company did nothing just shrugged there shoulders dont know if i can mention names but you could play one at 45 rpm and one at 33 rpm and they were out before cd s. two of our friends had there bookings cancelled last thurs and ended up with a taxi so it does not matter if you have booking confirmation.they say they emailed you the day before but our friends have still not got any emails. we have solved our prob by taking and leaving a car thereno mor expensive or cancelled booking for us.

I have been looking for "cheaper" car hire than what has been on show at the mo through various websites and company's.
Being the b******hunter that I am, I followed a posting on this website to FCcarhire and, would you believe it, I got cheaper car hire than if I had went with the usual company I rent from (Econorent),

So I would just like to say to my fellow poster'ers (if that is a word that I haven't made up) "Thank You" you've helped keep an oldish guy, rich.

You quite obviously haven't checked F&C's T&C's have you ? Go look. F&C Rent A Car car hire car rental spain On your booking it says you have to tick box to say you agree with these. be aware, that's all.

Your in for a massive shock car hire in Spain has gone through the roof. A small car in July for 21 days works out at £625. Does anyone know why the prices for car hire this year have gone up so much?

bargain and carjet are essentially the same; but bargain can be cheaper; In the ten years I have been going back and forward I have never gotten a cheaper car until I used email carhire.com so theses two companies, for me are the cheapest.

Susiwilla, if you only hire for 3 sometimes 4 days with companies you return tank full for refund. We don't know whether this was the case.

I'd be keen to hear if nodrogmaharg contacted doyouspain via the eye on Spain forum as I suggested. We've not heard from him/her since 7th April !

Just FYI, it seems that the Car Leasing Companies, who supply stock to many of the local car hire companies, underestimated the demand for 2009 due to the recession.

As such, the major local player leased a much smaller amount of cars than they usually do, for 2009. Typical sod's law, is that this year people have been coming to Spain in the same numbers as before but with about 30% less cars available, demand by far is outstripping demand thus keeping the prices high and the availability of cars very low.
