I fancy buying a scooter for myself and wife as pillian to tour and shop. I was wondering if any more of you lovely people have done the same.
Is it safe (we,re getting on a bit)
Do you think it would be better to buy in spain or export from uk.

I would would think twice about a scooter/moped in spain, especialy if you are not an experienced rider, its bad enough in a car or sherman tank,seen loads of accidents in spain with motorbikes, you can be the best rider in the world and some nutter will pull out in front of you,better with a small car or tank

I have been motorbiking here for several years, admittedly not a scooter, but I feel safer here than I ever did in the UK. The Spanish are normally quite considerate of bikers. You are more likely to be attacked by a Brit who's not sure what they're doing!! If you ride with the assumption that everybody is trying to kill you, you'll be fine.

scooter/moped

we have a 125cc scooter and use it every time we are in spain. We both ride it and i use it more than my husband and absolutely love it. We are both experienced riders and have to say the spanish are very good on the road and tend to stay away from you. You have to assume that every one is going to pull out on you and really have your wits about you tho. The are cheap to run fun to ride and so easy to park. We are in early to mid 50s so also getting on a bit. i wouldnt swap it for anything
