I have four cats and intend bringing them to torre from england. Can anyone tell me how they will settle down and also does air travel effect them adversely.

The air travel is no problem. My cat I brought from England was very happy here at first. The only real problem out here is fellow Brits of the nasty kind. I have major problems on my urbanisation because I have cats. I hope you fare better wherever you move to. Hope you are luckier with your neighbours.

        Hi
We bought our 10 year old cat out in January this year no problem with the flight and she has settled in really well, she is getting fatter all this lazing in the sun but she does need lots more water than she did in England (don't we all)
We also live in a cat loving area and she gets loads of fuss!!
        Good luck
        Wendy

Many thanks for your replies. Did you keep the cat in for some time before letting her out.

Did the cat need a tranquiliser before flying

                Hi
Don't give the cats any sedatives as they won't fly them at all, they did check with mine that she fully alert.
She wouldn't go out at all for about 4 weeks as everything was so strange, she just kept sniffing the air! I guess everything does smell different here! then she ventured out at night for short bursts now she is in and out whenever she wants, and as I said she is really content now.

                  Hi Peter
We flew our 7 Burmese out in January 04 and they all settled in beautifully. The eldest was 18 and the youngest 10. We found that they homed in on familiar objects - both inside and out and that helped I'm sure. They still scent the air occasionally and love the sun but do retreat into the shade when it warms up.
The only real difference to their diet is now we only feed complete (dried) food the tinned stuff goes off before they finish it. And they drink masses of water.
All seven are still bouncing around in very good health and have just had their boosters. A bonus for us was that 2 of the boys who did not get on are now just too relaxed to bother. Maybe the flight just left them too shell-shocked!!
