hi have just joined i are off too los altos for 4 mths can anyone tell me what its like there

Lo Altos

It is mainlly a residential area about 20 to 30 minutes walk to Punta Prima beach. There is a bus service that will take you into Torrevieja

The best supermarket in the area is Consum. If you want bars and restaurants Via Park 3 and 4 are the nearest

A bit short on shops really you need to walk down to Punta Prima for choice

Most shops are closed on Sundays although the supermarket in neighbouring La Florida is open Sunday mornings and there is a good selection of bars there

A few years ago Orihuela costa would have been deserted in the winter but the number of people living there or spending long periods there has increased greatlly in the last couple of years But you will be surprised at the number of empty holiday homes that there are in the area

The weather is pretty good up to Christmas and into January Febuary is generally the worst months. You will need some form of heating otherwise you will be watching TV under a duvet

In my opinion crime has greatlly decreased over the last couple of years you just have to take the same precautions as you would in England

My favourite areas are the coastal parts Punta prima Playa Flamenca La Zenia and Cabo Roig all have great coasts and threre is a coastal path that runs from Playa Flamenca to Cabo Roig

Torrevieja is a great cosmopolitan town A great place for people watching

The best street market is in Playa Flamenca on Saturdays

It used to be cheap but the exchange rate has changed all that Prices do vary a lot I find Mercedona an excellent value supermarket chain Punta Prima does have a Lidle and an Aldi

Bars And restaurants have wide ranging prices The best value meal out is without doubt chineese In my local chineese the take away menu has a date of 2004 on it the prices havent gone up since then
