Ferry from Santander?!

Has anybody out there gone to the U.K on the ferry from Santander recently? Is it a good trip and reasonably priced? Also we are taking a dog - how much roughly does it cost? I have just been to the Brittany Ferries web site and it says that you can only book a return journey for a dog, and also that dogs have to be kept in your vehicle during the overnight trip! I can just imagine the state of the car when we get back into it in the morning, after leaving our naughty Beagle running riot in it!!
Any advice gratefully appreciated

Cant help with anything except that when I did it last year, the dogs were all kept overnight in a room together on the (very) top deck, and owners were allowed in and out as they please.

Does anyone know if there is anywhere for cats on board the ferry as there is no way we are subjecting our cats to 3 days constant driving through France and Spain and at least there is only about 12 hours once you get off the ferry in Santander?
