As you know, music's my thing: 'If it ain't classical it ain't music.' Well, just good quality professional music. Here's a thought. The Costa Blanca, apart from being the preferred second or retirement choice for tens of thousands of expats is very much a tourist / holiday / break destination.
In which case leisure activities have got to be right up there, but are they? Sadly the entertainment scene is hopelessly anarchic; disorganised. All those poor but otherwise talented troubadors knocking on doors, the waifs of professionalism.
The news media is interested only in venue advertisements; the support system just isn't there. The CBN sniffily dismisses southern Costa Blanca entertainers. As for the others, no names no pack drill but there really should be listings and profiles. Zilch.
Surely this is a gap just waiting to be filled? What is needed is 1. Opportunity for entertainers to set their stall out online so the public can get to know them. 2. A 'What's On' guide. 3. This will offer a bonus: opportunity for venue events managers to browse and choose whilst showcasing their own watering holes. Even online fan clubs.
C'mon. This is 2010 nearly. Not 1950. Let pull it together! Otherwise we shall let our Costa Blanca, its residents and visitors down.
