  • Residencia???

Residencia there has been some posts on this subject before but it's still not clear to me what the advantages & disadvantages are, as far as i can see at the moment is that if you have a Residencia card you can sell your house without paying big tax bills, this is a big incentive to get one but there must a downside to getting a Residencia card?
do you have to pay taxes or somthing like that?

Allso how do you count the time spent in Spain,
do you count all the weeks and weekends all together or do you have to be in Spain for three months at one go? & how do the Spainsh goverment know how long you've been in the country any way??

      Pandashoe.

To apply for residencia you must have been in the country for 183 days continuously (i.e. 6 months) and intend to stay beyond that period.

There are certainly tax advantages to being resident (e.g. there is a tax allowance for CGT for residents, and you will not need to pay Renta).

You can't, however, add up all the days you spend in Spain over the course of a year and apply on those grounds.

      HTH,

      Chris.

Because it takes longer than 183 days to apply for it

Seriously though, I don't know. The Spanish authorities will, however, let the UK authorities know that you have been granted residency. you can't be resident in more than one country at the same time.

          Chris.

thanks doc but if your only there 183 out of 1 year you must be resident some were else as well, i know that you can get partime residencia but i'm still confused, if you get the partime residencia do you still get the benifits os full residencia? and allso is there any down side to having a residencia card? like loss of uk benifits or Spainsh taxes or something like that
