I know this may be a little like asking how long is a piece of string but has anyone from personal experience an idea of the length of time it takes to purchase a re-sale property from having an offer accepted, having a full survey, completing legal and registration work to the point of getting the key’s in hand.

Thank you Gal, ours would be a cash buy. We are intending to rent while we check out a few properties though we did view one Sept/Oct which appeared to tick all the boxes and felt like home. Still have a property to sell here but hope to be able to move in three to four months.

Buying Completion Time

When we purchased our apartment in Torrevieja we viewed in July 2003 and completed in November 2003.

We were told that the utillities accounts from the previous owner were in arrears and this was the reason for the delay.

Hello.

First step is get the NIE number (number for foreigners identification). Normal time is between 7 and 15 days. If you already have it and you are cash buyers, you can buy the property in 3 days (ask the appointment to sign in the Notary, they will ask the Nota Simple to the Registry Land Office, it will arrive in 48 hours and complete the deal then).

Thanks Edu I keep getting confusing info about the NIE some say you can obtain this in Manchester but only if you have a Spanish address others that you can use your UK address. The Spanish Consulate don't offer advice or stock the application form but I have downloaded it from the NET however I don't want to make the one hour trip to Manchester only to be told I can't use my current address.

If you alredy own a property here you already have an NIE number, give the Spanish Consulate a ring they may be able to tell you, keep looking around there are many bargains if you intend to live permanently consider places with storage and outside space and I would look for a home around 80sq m about right for 2 people unless you want a big mansion that is !!!!!!!!!!!!
