Please help if possible and answer these couple of questions

1) If you are self employed in Spain, is there a fixed rate you pay into the Social Security system?
2)If you are on a contract and are made redundent or laid off do you or the Goverment pay your social secuirty?
3) If the working parent of a family should be without work(not his/her fault) would a child(ren) still get medical cover?

1. Yes around 240€ p.m.

2. Depends how long you have been working in the system (you need a certain qualifying period, not sure what it is)

3. Yes if you are resident, padron, tax payer you should get cover for children.

But on all these points you need professional advice, lots of rules and regs are changing during the current crisis.

I was self employed.
As i have no rights to unemployment benifit I asked the Social services for help ( October 2009)
The first available appointment was feb 2010.
Filled in 20 documents in triplicate
Went Orihuela, torrevieja, and Alicante to collect all.
Received call in April to say that I had to do all again as I had appied in 2009 and we were now in 2010.
Did all.
I actually contacted the British consulate who intervened and were present at a meeting with the SS and I.
Elecirc cut off
Water cut off threat.
You can only go to Caritas for help with food once a month and then they make you feel so bad. ( one guy there even called me a liar)
I was told by the SS that I would receive a letter when the money was in and how much.
It is now June 2010 and the first 200€ has gone in.
NO LETTER though
DONT know how much I am going to get paid.
I have children and a single parent.
Bank wants to take my house.
Cant catch up!!!!
WHY, because the Social Security DONT GIVE A DAMM.
You pay your taxes and them nothing.
