That mindless pastime for old men who are incapable of taking part in a sport. It can’t be classified as a sport or even a game because no-one is trying to get the ball off you, nobody tackles you, the hole isn’t moving and the only person you really play against is yourself.
Yet vast areas of countryside are ludicrously manicured, falsely landscaped and watered with billions of gallons of a dwindling resource, ( they do say that the next World War will be fought over water rather than oil as at present ) to provide playing surfaces for this moronic waste of time. Other old men’s pastimes like snooker or pool, dominoes or cards or even darts don’t take up great areas of land to play on.
I’m aware that these courses provide a very good income for their proprietors, they can’t fail at the prices they charge, but do we really need so many?
Although gofers will probably deny it, there is very little exercise gained from this occupation as, due to the ridiculous number of bats they carry, seemingly a different one for each stroke, they all use trolleys to get round the course.
As so many courses are needed, presumably because to keep playing the same course is boring, why build houses next to golf courses? Surely if you move into one you still have to travel to other courses and never play the boring one you live on. Why not just build high security twilight homes for the elderly as they’re the only people who use these wastes of space. It would certainly be a more popular alternative to enforced euthanasia!
Near to San Miguel, with Vista Bella course and Villamartin just down the road and Algorfa a little further on why do they build Las Colinas Golf and Country Club immediately across the road from Compoamor Golf course ( a course I’m advised that is the best maintained and cheapest to play for miles around ).
There seems to be some confusion locally over whether Las Colinas is actually an illegal building site, being built as it is on protected nature reserve land, or indeed whether it has any potable water piped to the site, it could be purely agricultural.
Never mind, I’m sure all their problems will be sorted out and the correct paperwork obtained when the brown envelopes reach the right pockets.
