Just a quick word about Roundabouts!
No, it’s not about the idiotic way that Spaniards are taught to drive all the way around a roundabout in the outside lane in order to turn left!
It’s about the roundabout that’s missing from the CV95 just past Martinez Ford in the direction of Orihuela at San Miguel de Salinas.
It’s been on the Town Plan for years, and we were told a couple of years ago, that the money for its construction had been given by the Valencian Government. So what’s happened to it?
About a kilometre further down the road towards Orihuela there is a bright shiny new roundabout that does absolutely nothing apart from slow traffic down and provide a closed off roadway to an urbanisation that hasn’t been built, and in the present economic climate, probably won’t be built!
There have been two or three fatalities at the junction of the CV95 with the Balcon de la Costa and San Miguel village approach road in the past three or four years, and a chap had to be cut from his vehicle by the Bomberos just last week following a collision.
How many more people have to die or be seriously injured before the Town Hall do the decent thing and build a roundabout where one is needed……….!!!

I am convinced the Spaniards look at the plans for roundabouts and bridges after a long lunch and look at them upside down or back to front! You only have to drive along the 332 (bridge never be used Campoamor springs to mind) and a couple of roundabouts north of La Mata. It's the only explanation, sober people wouldn't put them there, would they??
