New Residencia Certificate for 86 year old Torrevieja Resident

Can anybody help us please? My husband and I live in Orihuela Costa and have just got our Residencia Certificates (our old residencia cards had expired) This involved 3 visits to the Ayuntamiento in Orihuela Costa 2 of which were to make appointments, and the 3rd to collect the Certificates.
I don't know if Torrevieja has the same system, we now have to do the same (or similar) process for my 86 year old Father in Law. Can anybody help with these questions?....
1. I assume we can renew his Padron at the Ayuntamiento by just producing the old one - is this correct?
2. Where is the Local Police Station that handles the Residencia Certs?
3. Do we have to make appointments the same as O/C? Presumably they will tell us what documents we have to produce and which ones we will need copies of.

Hope somebody can help smooth the process out for us, whilst we are used to queuing it's not so easy with an elderly relative!!

Hi Christine,

In Torrevieja, you need to go to the National police Station Office, which is beside the Windmill, close to Graphicas Torrevieja.

They expect you to go early and get a number but sometimes they are not sticklers for this.

One man or desk deals with NIE and residence.

Take your old card, photo copies of everything, an updated padron, passport and copy of the passport and they will exchange this for a form for to fill in and return with, or do this there and then.

Hand the form and whatever documents they wish to keep and they will send you off to pay about €10 into an account.

Come back with the bank receipt and they will then give you a day for you to return to get your bit of paper!

Go back on the day or soon after, take along the documents they ask for and the old resident's card, and you will then be the proud holder of a new bit of paper, IMHO, which is perfect for framing and hanging on the wall, but basically totally useless, as without any photo ID on it, banks, shops, the police etc, do not recognize it!

The office closes at 14.00 hrs.

Make a colour photocopy or three, have these notarized and then hide away the original at home, and hope that the PP get voted into power in Madrid and maybe we can have our cards back again! LOL
