  • Completion/Security etc

    Hi again everyone
I have just posted re payment etc on the previous post re black money so wont bore you with that anymore. We came over on 6th ready to complete. All went ok apart from a few minor problems with furniture not being delivered which will now come when we are out again. We had organised extra grilles to be fitted by Steve from Total Property Services and he turned up on time and did an excellent job. We arranged for Darren from Santa Rosa Property Services to change our door locks, fit window locks and fit a safe. The service was excellent and all work completed to a high standard. The safe is sunk into the floor which is really great. Darren also put up our ceiling fans. When we come over next time he is going to upgrade the boiler and no doubt we will have a few more jobs for him by then. Since reserving the property we have had loads of problems, expecially with the agents and builder, however our solicitors, Westmed have been great and once we had completed everything went really well (apart from the afore mentioned furniture from Arca). Thank goodness for email as we were able to arrange all the security measures to be done the day after completion which was really important. There have been a number of breakins on our new urb, last Thursday night included. We did not move into ours in the end for the remainder of the week just kitted it out with bits and bobs from Carrefore etc. I will say we will never again buy off plan it has been a nightmare. If we decide to move we will look for a resale. However during the course of the week (after the weather picked up for the last few days) we have met some very nice, friendly and helpful people, have now put all the crap behind us and are thoroughly looking forward to coming over again soon. All of this would not have been possible without everyone on this and the old forum. Thank you all so much
    Take care

    Jacpops,

Really pleased that you've finally got the keys - I've followed your posts for a while now and the wait must have seemed like forever! I'm also glad that you've done the sensible thing and arranged all your security first - that gives tremendous peace of mind I know, as I did the same pretty much this time last year.

Having said that, can you let me know how much Darren charged to fit your safe? Is it concreted in? Finally do you have contact details for him?

    Best of luck,

    Chris.

      Hi Chris
Thanks for that it has been a bit of a saga. We contacted Darren who changed our locks, fitted window locks and fans, he is also going to upgrade our boiler. He employs quite a few different people to do different jobs. I think the guy who did our safe was Tony, however he came with Darren as they do work together. Darren's number is 650856663 and his email is srproperty@terra.es The safe was 250 euros and it was sunk into the floor, the price included the safe, all works including making good the tiles. Although they couldnt get an exact match for the tiles it was pretty close and we thought the job was excellent. Good luck

            Hi Hoss
Where abouts in Burton do you live then. We are in Branston (for all of you who wonder, yes it is where Branston Pickle was first made). We have just bought a property on La Cinuelica in Los Altos. The locks only cost about 10 euros each to change and the window locks were about 15 I think. You can contact a lot of people by email and arrange for them to give you quotes and book the work in like we did. As I said before we had all ours sorted the day after we got the keys and really pleased we did after a couple of break ins while we were there on our new urb. Good luck.

                Hi jacpops,

You have not mentioned that you have had an alarm fitted.

Three of my neighbours on Rojales Hills were broken into last year because they did not have an alarm.

The scum can lever your grilles off the wall and smash locks with impunity if no one is about.

I don`t want to scare you but having an alarm definitely scares off the opportunist thieves who are in and out in minutes.

PLEASE get a good alarm fitted as soon as possible.

                Biker Dave

                  changing locks

                  Hi again
We live in Dalebrook on the other side of the river. Have you got any email addresses for lock changing? We are due to complete end of May/beginning June. They are building at the moment - looks to be on time. We can't wait. Look forward to hearing anything else anyone has to offer - Hoss

                        builders electric

We have completed on a new build apartment too, but the builder has advised us not to change the locks as he needs access to the property to ,change the supply of electric over, when the whole building is complete in a few months. Hence we have little furniture in at present.

What are you doing about access for the builder, if you are in the UK

                        Regards

The reality is the builders will probably not need any further access. Iberdrola (the electric company) will need access at some point but this could be months away. Go ahead and get your locks changed...a lot of burglaries seem to originate from building workers. Ideally if you are not going to be resident find someone who is who could act as a keyholder for you.

                          Good luck
