El Paraiso, Desidrio Rodriguez

I'm interested in any info on the proposed 'improvements' to the area & beach near El Paraiso. Has work started on the new promenade? What is happening to the bars on the beach?
As I have an apartment there I would like to find out more. If anyone has any info they could paste I'd be really grateful.

They haven't started on the promenade as yet. I went to the Santa Maria restaurant the other week just after they re-opened from their holidays. Rob said that he still doesn't know what is happening thinks the council were waiting for the elections were finished. Will probably be going there next week so will give you a update. All the restaurants behind the Dialprix still had their front patio areas.

Went to Santa Maria Restaurant today and they still don´t know what is happening with the patio areas. Apparently they have been told the patio areas are illegal even though the restaurants have been paying to use the areas, So all the restaurants have agreed not to pay the tax for them as they usually pay in advance and do not want to pay if they are going to be made to take down the outside areas.Ranchos still closed and so is the Beach Bar 103. Does not look good for the patio areas.

Thanks for your last reply which I have only just seen as have been out to my apartment and don't have internet access there.
While I was having coffee in the Santa Maria one morning two police officers were busy measuring up all the outside terraces.

It is behind the Dialprix on the main coastal road if you are going out of Torrevieja along the coast road and on the left you will see Dial Prix The Santa Maria is behind there. Next to Playa de Los Naufragos. There is also a Correos and other restaurants along that strip.

New Promenade & El Paraiso

I only hope that when this new promenade is built the bars along there will be allowed to have their outside terraces back. It would be ridiculous if they weren't.
Hopefully it will at least have the effect of 'tidying up' the area and enable access to the sea now that the wooden walkway has been destroyed by the winter weather.
Does anyone know where the promenade will start and end?
I understand the plans are at the town hall but as I won't be out again until August does anyone know if/where I can see them 'on line'?

Will keep you updated while you are not here as to what is or isn´t happening. I pop around every so often to The Santa Maria will ask Rob when i am next there.

They do. I ate there last time I was out. It was lovely sitting outside enjoying my meal. Last weekend was very hot here so sat outside till late in the evening for first time since I was in Torre in April. This weekend the temperature has dropped 12 or so degrees! How I wish I was there!
