    Updated Telmicro Announcement!!!

    TELMICRO STATEMENT

    (added August 31st)

    1. We are pleased to announce that we are able to once again restart broadcasting.

    2. We are transmitting a limited service for the time being.

    3. Within a short time we intend to implement a normal service.

    4. We would like to express our most sincere gratitude to our loyal customers for their patience.

    5. For any further information: info@telmicro.es or telephone: 902 512 930 weekdays from 10am to 5pm.

INFORMATION FOR OUR CUSTOMERS (added August 28th)

It is very important that you:

    a) Do NOT try to retune the box or scan for stations while the service is off. We are configuring the service so that the channels should automatically appear on your box without a new scan.

    b) Take good care of the box, viewing card and the remote control, and you should NOT under any circumstances give them to anyone or any other company. This equipment remains property of Telmicro and is guaranteed by the company.

    c) Please keep your TV service contract and any proof of payment in a safe place for future reference.

Just to draw you attention to these statements by the BBC and Sky made through the Costa Blanca News wherein the BBC and Sky state that it is ILLEGAL to receive their broadcasts in Spain. Please don't be conned anymore.

Skytvinspain, I'm not sure when the last time you spoke with any of the companies the you're criticising, but I spoke to someone from Telmiro on Saturday. They advised me that they will not be showing ANY unauthorised channels. Now which channels those unauthorised ones are remains to be seen, but in the meantime they're in the process of returning a minimum service in the meantime of contracted channels. All completely legal.

Infact, I wouldn't be surprised if Telmicro is THE most legal English Broadcaster on the Costa after this. Been advised La Mata is next to come on... woohooo!! Fox channel here I come!

Of course Skytvinspain, you are not biased in any way are you???

and by the way...buying a big dish and using it in Spain to watch any copyrighted programme governed for UK geographical use is still ILLEGAL...and when you supply these set up's to your customers, do you advise them of that??? or do you simply tell them its no problem as long as Sky don't find out you are using one of their cards outside the UK...

Oh...you use Freesat...OK...then a condition of use for all Freesat broadcasts is that the receiver has a current UK TV license for the actual place the receiver unit is used...Have you tried getting a UK TV license in Spain recently!!!

Quite simply, at this moment in time there is no legal way of viewing legal UK linear television in Spain...

Artist, Whilst the facts are still a little murky, it is expected that the situation regarding Telmicro has been caused, at least in part, by pressures from UK TV companies wishing to protect their own licenses and revenues. Therefore probably very little to do with the Spanish Administration who in all fairness have actually been protecting the 'illegal pirate operators' in the past...No longer though...Big brother from Brussels is now in charge!!!

and with regard to legal UK TV...do a search on here for ELTEL.TV and you will see that something is being done about it...
    Spot on Mikea !!!
I think that we will be able to receive lots of British TV legally "in the future"
Some we have now .....La2 and Teledeporte showing football.
Sky have or are finalizing a deal with Canal+ to show some of their programmes. Probably for us to pay to view ?
Maybe and hopefully the BBC will do a deal with Spanish broadcasters to show their programmes. ( this is already done with Dutch and Belgium broadcasters)
Maybe that is why the authorities are getting rid of the pirate companies so as to prepare the field ?
I agree that Spanish TV is dire and childish !!!

    Another brick in the wall

What i find sad is that at a time when the Spanish economy is hurting from the stimulus provided by the housing market (let's not be vague here, it was a major economic boost that indifference and greed has ruined) another action as been taken to drive more Brits away from buying in Spain. Is Spain so Crime free that the police can afford to put such resources into disrupting a TV supplier. I have my own relatives who were considering moving to Spain but on top of everything else eg. increased red tape, exchange rate, no prospect of employment have been put off by the prospect of no TV. Sorry the prententious amongst you who think that Brit's wanting to watch UK TV are sad individuals who should learn Spanish and watch Spanish TV. I lead a full life but enjoy watching TV on occasion. My wife speaks perfect Spanish and i am on the way, but come on, Spanish TV is dire compared to what we expect. Brit TV is probably the best in the world. Shame on SKy who have been making excess profits in the past from the people who now choose to spend their autumn years in the sun.
My only positive is that i know that if nothing else is on offer, the Brits and other nationalities (it should be remembered that many non Brits enjoy UK TV) will come up with something. The demand is too strong and the feeling too agrieved to suspect otherwise. Yours angrily "The artist"

Sorry to disappoint but it now appears that in order to LEGALLY watch Freesat or any UK deployed FreetoAir service it is now necessary to hold a current UK TV License for the property where the receiver unit is located (with a few exceptions for caravans etc)...Should be interesting to apply for one in Spain???

This information came directly from FREESAT HQ...

This information apparently also applies to all the BBC and ITV channels...
