It all started last April when our cat had to be put down after 15 years. He had cancer of the tongue. We said then that as we were pensioners we would not take on another pet. One morning we opened the door and a little ginger cat appeared. We felt a little sorry for it and my wife gave it some food that we had kept for our own cat.
After a couple of weeks it became obvious that our new visiter was pregnant. She kept coming in the morning and evening. One evening she turned up with five kittens and left them with us. She would return to nurse the kittens but it seemed that she had really decided that we should take care of her family. By this time her husband and his friend turned up. We were still feeding the original cat and her family so it seemed unkind not to feed her spouse. He seemed to have some friends when came with him.
In august it once again became obvious that she was pregnant again and once again she produced another 6 kittens. By this time we had 11 kittens, the mother and her husband and his friend.
We contacted International rescue who are a charity based in UK. They came on October and were able to neuter the Mother and three of her femail kittens.
Our problem is that the communty here do not seem to like cats even though they do not effect them. We do not mind having one or two cats but 14 is ridiculous. What can we do ?
